guys you probably want to check out this thread, which admittedly is for a different hard drive Smilie but there's some discussion on the crucial MX 500 where someone was kind enough to educate me on it Smilie

https://slickdeals.net/f/16284409-pny-cs900-3d-nand-2-5-sata-iii-ssd-500gb-27-240gb-17?p=160106251#post160106251

having said that.. and mind you this could just me being more fortunate who knows? Smilie .. I have one crucial MX500 serving as the " C " drive for one desktop PC that's being working fine for over 2 years and two others acting as a "C " (Windows) drive for two other desktops that have been working fine for over a year.

Running this as my boot drive for three years. It's still going strong 💪. Would definitely purchase again if I need one.

Market has no choce but to accept whatever the manufacturers sell. I remember ppl complained how TLC was bad for the SSD market with MLC was still at large.

if you don't have m.2 slots that are available then you are more likely to have sata open

Know very little about computers. Could you put this in an external enclosure and run it as a backup option?

Intel SSD is QLC, which means it's great if you're doing a lot of read-only operations, but if you tend to do a lot of read/writing (like an OS), it will burn out quicker than the TLC type drives.

There's natural degradation due to environmental variables, BUT it's still slow. HDDs have a slower degradation rate. Neither lasts forever.
