I bought my friend The Food Lab last year for a similar price and it is his favorite cookbook so I grabbed The Wok for this year!

These books use the scientific method and testing to really understand what makes food taste good instead of just blindly following recipes. Also you'll become way more efficient at cooking and he includes recommendations for what to have in your kitchen. You'll learn what YOU like and then be able to make your own adjustments to make food better for you! Honestly these books changed my life. Kenji also has a fantastic YouTube channel where you can see him make a bunch of the recipes. Extremely highly recommended

I'll reserve comment on the contents, but my copy of "The Food Lab..." is very poorly bound. There are several reviews stating the same. Perhaps that's been addressed by now, but I'd be hesitant to give this as a gift.

The food lab has some freaking delicious recipes in it. It's been a favorite of ours since it came out. My wife has the Wok book on her wish list so I'm definitely ordering that for her. Thanks op!

This books recipes are not as good as the food lab but I find myself using way more of the techniques from this book.
