Wow that worked! I will rep. you. In case the SD link above doesn't work, after you login as SmartSeed says, copy and paste this URL in your browser. https://tps.fidelity.com/tps-api/v1/redirect-to/turbo-tax-cd?fidelityContextCode=oltx
Then I logged into Intuit. It showed up as $105, but I did the trick someone else suggested to add a random Intuit product to the cart, then delete it. Then I was able to check out for $5.41 (tax in TX).
i got so many messages about this. let me answer you all here once in for all. you need to go the beta view to see the offer.
I have the premier offer under the beta view, but when I click to the turbotax website it still gives me only $20 off, even though fidelity says premier for free w/ state. Called Fidelity, they know about the issue and said to wait until the new year as they are working on the problem.

Same question. I've used the download version since almost 10 years now. I don't mind paying $5 for it, but if the online version is as good as download I'd like to know. I don't do multiple e-files, so the benefit of 5 free e-files with download version is not worth anything to me.
I've thought about this and have found it hard to justify why I want to run the software locally. Something about having digital copies of the files stored and managed locally (both TT's weird file extension, as well as the exported PDFs) makes me feel safer against (1) intrusions into TT's systems that could expose my data, and (2) loss of data stored in whatever proprietary/white-labeled cloud system TT uses for their online product.
In other words: I've made massive assumptions and continue to use those to justify having a piece of software running locally. I'm sure my #1 and #2 are not valid. But I'm stuck on running software locally.
I have the $20 off. So.. $54for TurboTax Premier.. am I going to see cheaper then that or should I bite?
Cheaper - Amazon has had it between 12/25 and 1/1. Watch carefully - 12/27 last year it started out at $40 for premier + $10gc. then moved to $55+ $10gc. either way, they have done this the past couple of years and would hope they do it again this year. Otherwise costco pretty much always has it at the $20 off, so no loss in waiting - nor does the coupon expire, so wait a couple weeks.
Or you could spend the $22.50 and not beg people for a free lunch. It's an itemized deduction anyway. I've been in a Private Client for decades and never get this offer. I just by HRBlock off of whatever SD vendor is cheapest.
I am not seeing the option or the offer. I have my 401k accounts only with Fidelity but no trading account. Does it show for any of the 401k user accounts?
This worked for me. I did not see it until I got into the beta view. Thanks. And rep to Bogleheads indexfundfan who posted this where I saw it first (not sure who was first). And Bogleheads indexfundfan posted this link might help you find the download versions once you get click through fidelity and get logged into turbotax. I bought both the windows and Mac versions for 10 e-files total for family use for $10+tax.
No! That is the $20 off offer that everyone gets. The free offer would be on your portfolio page. We go through this every year. If you don't see it there, don't go looking for it elsewhere, thinking you might find it somewhere else. You won't.

It is not for 401k-only customers. You need to have a retail account with them.
It looks like the online version includes State efile, but it looks like the download version you get state free, but pay for efile. Am I reading it wrong?
I really. really, really hate the online version, and am used to the download version. I would pay the $5 for the download version but I may consider the online version if I can save the efile fee.

Usually just a 1 day sale FYI.
Where did you find premier for $22.50?

$5 CD/Download version says good for 5 e-files. Not seeing an e-file quantity on the free online version.
