That is kind of confusing then as the listing specs state:

The listing title then says FastFormat, not sure if that is referring to a feature of the drive or if that is the name of the Recertifiying company:

Update: FastFormat is a featue Segate drives have.

And then they define Manufacturer recertified as:

Talked to their customer service chat and they said they are recertified indeed by Seagate and that ServerPartDeals runs their own internal tests on top of it. That these drives are warrantied to have less than 50 power on hours.

attached the screenshots below.

Be aware that this drive is apparently pretty loud, as discussed during a previous sale here: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc...rpm_19999/

2-year ServerPartDeals warranty, NOT Manufacturer warrantied.

I received my 14TB drive today and like everyone else had commented, it arrived very well packaged. However my drive was DOA. My drive makes a mechanical beeping sound and it doesn't spin up. Obviously it doesn't show up in Disk Management. First time I've ever ordered from serverpartddeals. I decided to give them a shot based on comments from Slickdeals and the r/datahoarder community. I have sent them a message about swapping the drive. I will report back here with my experience dealing with them. And before anyone asks, I have tried using different SATA power and data cables and have also tried an external SATA enclosure.

Just received mine. It said I had to format and partition the drive before I can use it. In Windows Disk Management, it shows that this drive has a capacity of ~750 GB. Anyone come across this issue? Did I get a lemon? I am connected via an external enclosure so that might be an issue?

[EDIT] Answering my own question.. it was the enclosure!

Just got my 12tb for $105, think I ordered on Saturday, can't believe it came this quick, packaging was best I've ever gotten on a drive. Was half thinking about ordering a second one, but as mentioned price is up to $127.

Can't really vouch for the drive itself yet, but I've read good things for months about even manu recerts exos from serverpartdeals. First bare drive I've ever bought used. Hope it works out.

I just got mine. It has 0 hours of power on time and a single power cycle. Checked the serial number on seagates warranty site and it isn't covered by seagate directly(as expected). Looks good
Both of my 12TB were the same 0 hours and 1 power cycle. Added to my existing disk pool of other exos 12tb and wishing I had bought more at the original price

Same for all the 16TB drives I bought. Nice to see someone else taking advantage of the killer deals that are recert Seagate Exos. I bought my first one maybe 3 months ago and then ordered 3 more. I'm hooked

My 14 TB Exos came today. It was very well packed: a box around a box with bubble wrap around the drive.

19 hours and 2 power cycles according to SMART. I am not sure that means much if they have been wiped.

Here is the CrystalDiskInfo for anyone interested

My story is basically an exact copy of yours. Drive was shipped very well packaged, had a shipping box. Inside of the shipping box another box, closed with a sticker label from serverpartdeals saying what is inside. The drive inside that box was inside of an air filled bubble type of shipping material super thight to the drive. The drive was inside an anti-static bag that was sealed, had to use scissors to open it.

The drive per CrystaDiskInfo had 2 power Ons and 19 hours. Will post later a screenshot. Seatools reported the same. Currently runnning the drives self tests through Seatools, expect that to take at least a day, will report back once those tests are done.

Another thing to add is that the drive came with a white label with Seagate's brand printed on it, the label is identical to my other brand new Exo16 14TB drive except that it says near the Seagate brand Recertified. Also the hard drive metal case has laser etch the word Recertified on it. Build date was August 2021.

The drive was squeaky clean outside, looked as if it came straight out of a factory. Only notice a super minor scratch or small dent on the black side of the metal case, nothing that really worries me and a very faint line or scratch on the PCB.

Got my four 12tb drives, no errors or S.M.A.R.T flags, uptimes seem to be between 30-55 hours.
I put a good fan in front of them to give them excellent cooling and started a stress test a couple of hours ago. No problems at all so far. I'll update if I find anything wrong with them.

Update: everything checked out fine with the drives and there were no problems at all after the stress test. I've since already integrated them into my unraid arrays. šŸ‘

Just got my two 14TB drives. They had power on hours of 18h and 19h, so pretty much brand new.

The SMART data was probably wiped, but I still wouldn't worry about it if it passes tests.

Seems they're trying to bang these out. I ordered on the 17th, got the "delayed" message on the 18th, they created the shipping label for the 5 12 TB disks I ordered on the 19th, and shipped via 2nd day air today (the 20th), with delivery expected the 22nd,

Based on what everyone's posted so far, it's looking solid, but I'll wait until I have them in my hands and stress tested before I declare victory.

So far my 14TB has passed all the SeaTools Tests only remaining the Long Generic Test. What I notice is that this drive is more quiet than the brand new 14TB Exo I got. The brand new one is one firmware version behind which is tempting me to upgrade it to the latest to see if the firmware has some secret sauce that makes them even more quiet.
