Come on Bestbuy, people were getting these lower than this even during the pandemic.
Since 2019 I have been waiting for 16TB for $200 and Bestbuy still wont deliver

I caved and got a 20tb for $309. Black Friday didn't deliver good luck!
Good deal. Not far from the $190 I paid a couple of years ago. It's good to see some pricing normalize again.
$170 on 2021 with the infamous recycling coupon. That coupon got hit so much for these EasyStores that best buy an WD had to update the coupon to exclude EasyStore drives.
Anyone knows what is being put inside these this year?

+1, really interested in what's still inside. Need to upgrade the NAS.
Yeah wish I took advantage of the recycling coupon deal, that's been the best value so far (believe it was $200 with 15% off = $12.1/tb). I bought that 18tb Purple 7200rpm Amazon deal a few weeks ago for $240 (13.3/tb), though that hasn't shipped yet. Thinking might just get this $200 deal to use as my seed drive

These tend to be white label and WD doesn't make SMR 8TB and up as I understand so they should be good enough for a NAS. You should always have parity and backups of course.

no. never even tried to, i had no reason to.
now, even IF one did shucked it, it should still be under warranty, unless your shucking action is what breaks the drive.
Basically all those stickers scaring you from opening it is just that, a scare. FTC have long said that unless the user opening the thing is what actually caused it to break, otherwise the manufacturer still need to honor the warranty.
