I've been using the Kenmore equivalent in our Whirlpool side by side that my landlord provided with much success!

Google Kenmore 9081. It's the equivalent for Filter 1. Whirlpool makes the Kenmore branded fridge for Sears using the same parts

I noticed that you can get those Kenmore water filters ridiculously cheap, at least compared to the EveryDrop EDR1RDX1 filter. However, I notice they're not sold by Amazon or Walmart directly, only by their "marketplace sellers". Hmmm, flag raised yet, anybody?

I previously purchased the highest quality tier of these Amazon Basics filters, and I would recommend them when they are on discount. Prior to using these, I was using the other generic brands available on Amazon with similar NSF certifications, and after recently switching to Amazon Basics, the water taste was similar, but there was also a noticeable increase in water pressure in the water dispensed from the fridge, more similar to the OEM filters. A pleasant surprise.
