I just buy these 3-pack alternative Filter A, which seem to work just as well.

I can't tell a difference in performance, but at least in terms of perceived air quality, I don't notice any difference with the off-brand replacement.

Yes but you can't do that for the paper hepa filter which will eventually need changing.

Agreed. Only works with on the carbon filter, but you'll not get anything by trying that on the white HEPA filters.

I'll just point out that these air purifiers are really just fans with filters. It's the filter that's doing all the work. Unless someone can point to a third-party filter that's proven to work just as effectively, I'll happily pay $36 for a filter, esp. since they last pretty long.

I vacuum the HEPA filter with a brush attachment in between replacements. I either vacuum or rinse the carbon filters in between their replacements also. It's recommended to change the HEPA filter once a year, so that's a lot of debris building up. There's definitely a visible difference with the vacuuming, and it takes only a few minutes. I still replace on schedule, but I feel the air is cleaner doing it my way. If anybody has information about why I shouldn't vacuum, please advise.
