It's more that the brand filter might have to abide by and get tested on certain US standards that a generic seller in China doesn't have to.
I bought a generic "HEPA" filter for the c545 a couple weeks ago. Was flimsy and less filter pleats thaf the OEM. Also it smelled bad for the first 15 mins running.

So there can be differences. Just because it fits, doesn't mean the same effectiveness.
It's a filter with set dimensions; it's not rocket surgery.

Pretty sure they're always around this price. $30 each is the typical sale price.

Anyone know of a good generic brand for these filters? I used to get the Cabiclean or Durabasics brand from Amazon but looks like they don't make filters for this model anymore.

What are the best and cheapest c545 generic filters if I don't need fast ship times?

I don't understand people buying generic water and air filters. You seriously trust someone making something to fit your machine with whatever fits in there instead of the company that has standards? Why even have a filter?

I don't know if it's good or not, but I bought from discount filters and the carbon filter is a bit thicker.

Not a deal; this has been Walmart's regular price for a couple of months now.

I buy the HVAC HEPA filter at Home Depot and cut it into shape. They're usually 12 bucks each.

If you have amex offer 20% back from walmart.com then it can become a better deal.

Anyone ever have any strange smells come out there c545?
Every once in a while i get an old dog pee smeel out the output. Its strange, its not always....only some times.
We have dogs, but they aren't allowed in the room with the the winix. I replaced the filters, pulled the front cover sniffed all around with it off, couldn't smell anything or any find any evidence of dog pee. They are small dogs, so even if they got into the room, unless there's some sort of ricochet pee, its impossible for them to pee down into the outlet.

I watched an Electroboom youtube of him on a desk treadlmill and he said that the lubricant they used smelled like dog pee. Wondering if this is a possibility.
I tried reaching out to CS, but i'm a month out of warranty (bought directly from them).

It's a simple air filter. I have only bought generics and all have fit nice and tight, virtually indistinguishable from OEM. Filter or its media may even come from the same factory as OEM.

You're funny..It's like my mom who would flip out if I bought generic corn flakes or any off-brand grocery item. You think they sprinkle some magic proprietary dust into the filters? It's a rather simple concept. You can go the extra mile and see if things like water filters are NSF, etc. certified. Go ahead, though, be a slave to the brand and mentally feel like every breath or sip you take is the finest unmatched quality. Pro tip - don't ever go into an Aldi, Lidl or Trader Joe's...you'd starve.
