I just buy these 3-pack alternative Filter A, which seem to work just as well.

I can't tell a difference in performance, but at least in terms of perceived air quality, I don't notice any difference with the off-brand replacement.

Will these fit the Costco version 545? I know Costco likes to have their own model numbers even for the exact same items as sold at other stores.

I vacuum the HEPA filter with a brush attachment in between replacements. I either vacuum or rinse the carbon filters in between their replacements also. It's recommended to change the HEPA filter once a year, so that's a lot of debris building up. There's definitely a visible difference with the vacuuming, and it takes only a few minutes. I still replace on schedule, but I feel the air is cleaner doing it my way. If anybody has information about why I shouldn't vacuum, please advise.

Better rinse than vacuum b/c w/ a vacuum some particles will jump back into the air anyway

My understanding of how carbon filters work is to trap odors and not for collecting dust.

Washing the filter with water only remove dust in the carbon filter but won't remove the VOC absorbed. Getting carbon wet will only ruin it. You can google to find out more how carbon air filter works. One of the google search result said it is possible to "reactivate" the carbon, but doing so requires heating the carbon back up to 900 degrees Celsius, etc..... when reactivated the carbon, all the impurities that were adsorbed are released. These impurities can become toxic at higher temperatures.....

I purchased RONGJU C545 Filter Compatible with Winix C545, Compare to Part S Filter 1712-0096-00, 3 Filters + 6 Activated Carbon Pre Filters from Amazon for $31.99 - 10% coupon just two weeks ago. I don't notice any difference between the after market and the OEM filters.

I'm pretty sure the red "replace filter" light is just on a timer. I don't think it has any way of knowing how clogged the filter is.

HEPA filters are not washable. You may be thinking of the pre-filter or carbon filter. There are washable dust filters, but they only trap larger particles like dust. They can't filter smaller particles like pollen, particles from air pollution, viruses, or bacteria. Washing a HEPA filter will not make it filter better. It will create microscopic holes in the filter, essentially turning it into a poor quality dust filter.
Here's more info on this, if you're curious, where washing them was tested:

Given how bad Amazon is about selling counterfeit products, is there any indication that these are genuine?

You'll pardon me if the word "genuine" in the title doesn't totally convince me.

Thanks for the input on the carbon filters. I won't wash, but will still vacuum. Even though the purpose of the carbon filters is to trap odors, they do collect dust from the air moving through them, and I still think vacuuming between changes is beneficial.
