The Sofirn SP40 as OP mentioned can run 6+ hours on a more substantial 18650 rechargeable lithium battery (built-in charger). Currently on sale for $30 and comes with a good 18650 battery. IMO this is a better deal and better flashlight.

This thing is never $29.99. CCC shows the seller just manipulates the price so they can say it's on sale. Normally $16.

(I bought a flashlight that has a magnetic charger and it is simply fantastic. So easy to just walk by and snap it in, so much so that I'm sure I use this light more than otherwise; it actually increases the utility of the item, let alone the value.
I would bet having to remove a battery, especially a "smaller" one would significantly decrease the utility.)

Sofirn has built-in USB-C, NICRON has to be removed. This is a huge selling point for me as well.
Oddly they're almost identical in size, which makes the Sofirn more attractive too, given the much higher battery capacity.
Sofirn is fixed at 90*, while the NICRON is not.
The biggest factor here on SD though is price, so if the few benefits of the sofirn are not worth $10-15 to you, NICRON is the winner.

The Nicron N7 is 1/3 of the price of the SP40 and is more than adequate for everyday use around the house and more. As I said, I find myself reaching for the N7 more often than I reach for the SP40. I love the swivel head. I usually keep it in the car. The small factor makes it perfect for the occasional emergency. I actually used it for a 2 hr MTB ride tonight because I forgot my normal bike lights. That said, I would definitely not recommend it for that purpose (nor I would recommend the SP40 - the beam is too diffuse), but it saved my ride today.

Definitely not a $30 light!

I second this rec for the Sofirn. Incredible light
there's probably too many in the channels, so i'd expect the price
to fall even more from here over the winter.
