Do "granite cleaners" actually do anything different from your basic all purpose degreaser/cleaner (409, Lysol, etc)? I have granite counter tops and if this actually is an upgrade, I'll buy it.

There's pastes that exist for this issue. You apply it on the ring or the stained spot & leave it for a while. Like 24 hours or something like that, & it pulls the moisture out of the granite & clears the stain. With that being said, out of maybe 10 times I used it, it worked perfectly like twice. The other six times the stain became faint so it sort of worked but it was definitely noticeably & the other two times it didn't do a damn thing lol Hope this helps!

supposedly basic cleaners are too harsh for stone and can damage it - i use a dedicated stone cleaner / sealant / polish system but wouldnt buy these wipes as the stone cleaner + paper towel or microfiber is cheaper
What do you use?

I use the spray version. It leaves a nice gloss on the granite that makes the colors pop.

Polishing the countertops is the last thing I do before visitors show up at the house.Wave

no and that's the problem with granite. once it stains like that you are stuck with discolored granite! fyi "my friend" did the same thing with a candle base once. the outer edges stained their granite horribly.
I am that friend at my home and yup tried everything to avoid being yelled at and nothing worked. Been 2 years and the wife still cannot get over it lol!!!!

With Quartz, is this necessary?

Update: I see they sell one specifically for it.

Anybody know if there is anything to fix granite that a husband left his mcdonalds cup of coke that seeped through and ate a ring into the granite finish?

Asking for a friend.
Try to make a mix of baking soda and peroxide paste. You can drop a thin layer on top. Hopefully it lightens the stain. You can also leave a peroxide soaked bounty or paper towel on top over night.

I've got a black/brown granite (tan brown) and lots of water spots near the sink. Will this spray clean all that hard water up? If not, is there something else that can clean it up?

One of the reasons to use a granite cleaner is that it'll be safe for the sealer that should be on your granite, as well as safe for the stone.

If you're using harsher cleaners, it may be removing the sealer.

I make my own with rubbing alcohol and a few drops of dish soap. It's generally much cheaper. You can google the recipe.

From my experience with this specific product, I've actually brought out dark stains on granite by leaving it in a bit and then wiping it clean. I for sure thought that the granite would have a "forever spot" on it. But using this made it go away. So I'm a fan.

My Installer pretty much told me to they recommended everyday cleaning with dawn power wash spray. And honestly I like it. That the ingredients are simple and you can diy after words. The magic is in the bottle itself to create the foam.
