Appears to be $300 off everyone else's price, but says $900 off. Keeping my old fridge just in case.

Based on what everyone posts here on SD no fridge is worth buying because they all die within a few years.
But if it fails, it has SMART DIAGNOSIS to tell you that your fridge isn't working!
Hope they fixed their higher than normal failing rate for their compressors. https://www.consumerreports.org/l...mpressors/

I was waiting for the compressor to fail when the ice maker slowly started to fail. Finding someone to service an LG was difficult. First visit guy installed new ice maker and told me it would take abt 24 hours to make ice. Nada
Second visit he did last of fancy diagnostic tests and had to call consultant.
In the end, code said a wire in the door had shorted out. It would cost $1,000 for a new door bc he couldn't get to the wire in the door. After all components in the door were installed, they fill the void with insulation.
No problem. My kids learned how to use ice trays!

Have an LG that is about 13 years old... still kicking. But I am mulling upgrading it just because I know they don't last forever

That would be an expensive mistake.

It has not. This model is part of the class action suit that was settled. Use Google next time and stop spouting lies.
Here is the list of models that is part of the lawsuit: https://www.lgfridgesettlement.co...models.php

I'm not seeing this model listed there. Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

Spoiler alert, the compressor will die in a few years.

I had my LG fridge compressor due after three years two days ago. Smart diagnosis didn't pick it up and said everything was good even though everything was noticeably warmer. From what I see, it's useless. Compressors have a five year warranty but I can't remember if it's parts, labor or both.

Run away from LG refrigerators. They were the subject of a class action lawsuit because of a bad compressor design. Their compressors use plastic valves. Lol. My LG fridge compressor failed under warranty. They wouldn't repair it for 2 months and the service department canceled 4 appointments about one hour before they were supposed to arrive. Imagine having a family and not having a fridge for 2 months?
One of this conversations had a husky voiced Ghetto Karen out of Atlanta Georgia from the LG Office of the President treat me like absolute trash on the phone and tell me it was all my fault. I haven't been talked like that ever. So, really you are signing yourself up for being without a refrigerator for 2 to 3 months, have $500 of food spoilage, having a ghetto Karen out of Atlanta Georgia tell you that it's your fault that it's not repaired after 2 months, spend at least 30 hours on the telephone trying to get this repaired.

So if that's what you like then go for it.

I had the compressor issue slightly after 3 years, and it was replaced the weekend before Thanksgiving. Warranty covered all but $150, and that was because LG would only pay a max of $350 for labor. The technician wasn't an authorized repair person for LG, so that is why I had to pay the difference in labor costs.

I hit the jackpot with the appliance repair guy. He used to work for LG at one point before starting his own company. He told me how the process worked and what would happen, and he was 100% accurate. I submitted the claim online and the parts were received by the repair guy within 3 days. I also got a new mainboard out of the repair.

He did state the compressor was a horrible design used by LG for a few years, and that they changed the compressor. Of course, I guess time will tell.

Maybe for others. I have a second fridge in the garage and we recently cleaned out both, so we only lost a few things that nobody cared about anyway.

I was able to purchase one at Lowe's last night for $647.73 with the 10% off clearance appliances. Added a three year warranty for $100 and had to buy a new ice connector line for $15 since I'm having it delivered and installed (free). I think that gives me a total of 7 years of warranty since I purchased it with my Costco Citi card and the manufacturer's warranty is 2 years. 2 years manufacturer + 3 years Lowe's warranty + 2 years credit card. Pretty sweet deal at $818 total!

Modern appliances aren't built like they used to be and are a lot more hit and miss.

Our last fridge was 11+ years old but the filter fitting housing cracked and leaked into the walls.

We ended up replacing it with another higher end Whirlpool and both ice makers had issues the first year. My parents Kitchenaid (same model as mine) is going strong. Their other Kenmore which was an LG had the compressor die twice in 4 years. The only constant seems to be Bosch outperforming the rest of the industry but parts/techs aren't the easiest to come by if something does go wrong.

I have a Bosch dishwasher. I am not very impressed with their product and the customer service was not pleasant.
