They refunded my money no problem, but it was about two weeks after they received it back. They probably realized they screwed up when they checked the box size they sent was smaller than what this card could fit in.
I drove across state lines to pick up a 6800 at a MicroCenter instead.
Honestly, it's a kind of a preference to the green or the red side. They're in the same neighborhood.
Good point. I'm in need of a minimum 3080 level performance (4k 60fps), When are the 7700xt / 7800xt supposed to come out?
probably won't get any info for a couple months, the soonest would probably be at GDC but its possible to have a formal announcement from both parties of the lower to mid range cards

the fact that miners are able to sell to offset from how much they mined from actually puts nvidia in a much better situation cause of the yield now
amd still has a ways to go; i tried to replace my 3060ti with a 6700xt but the software was pretty but it was shortlived when i started to get more glitches and a frame drop
most annoying thing is every new game i put into ram had to load textures which killed fps; and .1% and 1% lowest was pretty bad; like -40 from dota 2 which i didn't have stuttering before
PowerColor 6800 [amazon.com]
not sure why the price has been going higher, i certainly wouldn't think a 490 USD 6800 is a good value if you could wait a bit.
if anything, a 6700xt or 6650xt seem to be at a reasonable price at this moment.

Problem with the 6800 XT's is that they seem to have gone extinct. Every now and then a very teeny tiny amount of stock shows up for under $550 on Amazon or Newegg and is snatched up almost immediately. Ditto for the 6900 XT's; I haven't seen any sign of them being around anywhere.

Prices on last gen have gone higher because the new gen are higher. If you going spend $800 on a 6800xt, you might as well get the 7900xt for $900-1000.. If the 6800xt was priced at $550-650.. the 7900xt wouldn't move as well. Most people will pay the extra 100-200 for newer technology and AV1.
This is done on purpose by AMD and NVidia they artificially inflate the prices. It's not about the consumer it's about the share holders. They more $ they can squeeze out of the consumer the happier the share holders are.
You could get a last gen gaming card and get the Intel ARC for AV1. Drawback if that you have to have the space fro two GFX cards.
I have a 6800xt and play at 1440p with graphics set high/ultra without issue. Even Cyberpunk 2077 runs good on ultra w/o RTX & FSR.. I don't watch my wattage so I can't tell you where I'm at with that.
