The 4080 is moderately faster, but the 6950 is pretty damn close (check the benchmarks [tomshardware.com] if you don't believe me). And for literally half the price, the 6950 is definitely the better buy.

Actually the new raytracing in unreal engine 5 runs as good or a little better on AMD.

To the institutions and corporations, consoles are king. High performance Ray tracing is coming to the new consoles through whatever black magic or encoding changes they need to make. And that means it's coming to AMD because the consoles are 100 percent AMD PC hardware.

In fact it's already here with unreal engine 5, it just needs to be further implemented and almost ever game studio is adopting it.

So sick of people commenting on ray tracing as if it's something that should determine the purchase of a card. Go look at gaming benchmarks from hardware unboxed, gamers nexxus, jayz2cents or any reputable tech site. RT tanks your FPS and still to this day isn't worth the performance hit especially if you game at 1440p and above.

I am absolutely watching people buy used 6900 XTs on ebay for $600+ before shipping. Pure insanity. When will this market moderate?

Wow, AMD finally read the market and lowered it down $100 to $700. They also reduced the 6750 XT from $450 to $430.

Putting the 7900 and 4000 series aside, is this a good price for this much performance now?
i don't love the price. I got a 6900xt for 570; i know some paid 550 on newegg. Also as others will say the 6800xt is or was about 500, and performs functionally the same.

No price aside if they could say drop this to low 600's, i can totally recommend it. THey are very good and stable gpus. At this price i think you just have to look to alternative or at least consider them
- 7900xt or 4070 ti. now i think they suck in value. What i'd do is look for a 6800xt or erven a 6800. Both will handle 2k fine.

Not really anymore. Most are pretty available. The 4090s, 7900xtx seem to be hard to get.

Paid $750 back in 2017 for my 1080ti. How much faster is the 6950xt compared with the 1080ti? I play at 1440p for now.
At least twice as fast if not more

Probably not. Check peak load on cpu and 6950. If total is more than 80% of the 12v rail output of your power supply, you should consider it. Over 90% definitely replace PSU or you're going to redline it while gaming. Won't last very long.

meh, personally they can sell this for around 600 and still make money ... personally speaking that is where i think this card should sell at considering the 6800xt's have more or less been liquidated and its the older architecture

borderline, but you can always underclock the processor or the gpu if you want to be safe
