60K - 110K American Airline Points | $0-2500 spend | $0 annual fee for year 1

60k points - AAdvantage World Elite Mastercard from Barclays. Just for opening the card, and making a single purchase, you will earn 60,000 American Airlines miles. The card's $99 annual fee is even waived in your first year of card membership.

50K points - This card currently has a welcome offer bonus to earn 50,000 AAdvantage Miles after spending $2,500 within the three months of card membership. And the card's $99 annual fee is also waived for the first year of card membership.

https://citicards.citi.com/usc/LP...index.html

Put these two cards together, and spend just $2,500 on the other (the Citi Platinum Select World Elite card) in the first three months. Bam: You've got 110,000 American Airlines miles. All without paying an annual fee in your first year.

That's an easier (and cheaper) path to pile up more than 100,000 miles than you'll find with almost any other airline. Of course, it requires opening two credit cards and responsibly meeting the minimum spending requirement

I somewhat heard that Barclays doesn't let you product change, so you might get stuck with the card though
There's a no-fee aa card that you can switch to. My sister did it recently. I just close my cards

They're basically already gone. I've flown about 8 AA domestic flights in the past year using miles (with lots of date flexibility each time) and there was never any milesaaver availability; it was all dynamic pricing. The dynamic pricing was almost always more expensive than milesaaver would have been, but sometimes less. So I guess AA is just making it official but it's really already happened.

These are the typical offers from aa cards. I been waiting on some elevated offers since I now live in an AA hub before opening a new card. Sadly, I'm still waiting .

Thanks for the 411.
I skip these blogs because they take too long to make their point. (like a padded term paper)

YMMV (literally).
For me it's been insanely easy. I'm in the Midwest. They connect everywhere out here. And frequently are worth >2.0
How far out do you book with points? Whenever I try there is never award seating available whether its 3 months or over 9 months away.

How come I never hear good points offerings from Chase recently? I have zero Visa cards in my wallet at the moment.

Is the Barclay card once per lifetime?
Their terms are fairly vague, but this is what they say: " You may not be eligible for this offer if you currently have or previously had an account with us in this Program. "

AA points aren't the easiest to use (and get a good value). Just be aware of what you are getting.
Interesting you say that, I find AA points to be the most valuable of the US 3 carriers. Compare a few AA awards to skymiles redemptions.

I guess redemption value can vary based on your market. I am in a non AA hub city, so tons of saver awards.

Also alliance wide Oneworld + Star >>> Skyteam

I recently started learning more about points. I was collecting a lot of points without any thoughts and spending them without any thought too, but It could save around 10-15k in flights with very little effort.
Have to be disciplined though. These three cards are in my to-do list

I'm AA Elite exec plat status and have both of these credit cards. The welcome offers are decent and you can get companion passes if you meet the annual spend — $20k i believe.

Now having said that if I didn't live in an AA hub city with few other options for international travel I honestly would have zero loyalty to AA.

I live in dallas, i can get direct flights to Europe and South America, quick hops to the Caribbean through Miami or charlotte.

Unfortunately united and delta, which are superior to AA do not have large footprints here in the dfw area and southwest doesn't have a lot of international flight destinations.

So that leaves me with AA. Mediocre customer service, decent flight options, decent pricing and actually decent redemptions on points.

As an example I fly around the country using points and can save thousands of dollars annually.

If you don't know how to redeem points check out some basic guides from the points guy.

They're probably not going to offer more points tbh. If you live in a hub like I do then get them, put your spend on them and start traveling.

I have a lot of points but would never use them for business class. I can take twice as many trips on economy with the points.

Actually he's right — I booked round trip to Tokyo business and it was a screaming deal.

Maybe they want to use it to experience business class once in their lifetime?

No, I reopen every 2 years or so, but some people do it more often. You can also open the business card for another 80k points

I have AA MC citi now. I've had aviator before that I cancelled 4 years ago.

Applied for aviator twice since and a delta card all were rejected stating I've had too many card cancellations
