60K - 110K American Airline Points | $0-2500 spend | $0 annual fee for year 1

60k points - AAdvantage World Elite Mastercard from Barclays. Just for opening the card, and making a single purchase, you will earn 60,000 American Airlines miles. The card's $99 annual fee is even waived in your first year of card membership.

50K points - This card currently has a welcome offer bonus to earn 50,000 AAdvantage Miles after spending $2,500 within the three months of card membership. And the card's $99 annual fee is also waived for the first year of card membership.

Put these two cards together, and spend just $2,500 on the other (the Citi Platinum Select World Elite card) in the first three months. Bam: You've got 110,000 American Airlines miles. All without paying an annual fee in your first year.

That's an easier (and cheaper) path to pile up more than 100,000 miles than you'll find with almost any other airline. Of course, it requires opening two credit cards and responsibly meeting the minimum spending requirement

I recently started learning more about points. I was collecting a lot of points without any thoughts and spending them without any thought too, but It could save around 10-15k in flights with very little effort.
Have to be disciplined though. These three cards are in my to-do list

Check out points guy or any of a number of travel/points sites that offer guides on how to earn and use points.

Generally speaking a point redemption should give you about 1.5-2 cents of value. For example if you book a flight on AA using 25,000 points, that flight should cost minimum $400 to be a reasonable point redemption and $500 for it to be a great redemption.

If I look at flights and it's a 1:1 — so for example a $250 flight is 25,000 points, I will purchase that flight using my credit card instead.

It takes trial and error, playing around with the various websites and before you know it you'll get the hang of it.

I have AA MC citi now. I've had aviator before that I cancelled 4 years ago.

Applied for aviator twice since and a delta card all were rejected stating I've had too many card cancellations

Have you gone over the 5/2? 5 cards in 2 years? If so then you'll have to wait before trying to reopen. Some credit cards keep your info in their databases and will refuse to issue you another credit card. That happened to me with the SPG credit cards back in the day.

This is a kind of weird post. Usually, people just don't add sign-up bonuses for two credit cards.
In addition, the CITI one is just a mediocre offer. They offered 75k in June 2022.

I disagree. Like anything else, if you know what you're doing you can get screaming point redemptions. I have a trip to Tokyo planned using AA miles that is literally saving me thousands and thousands of dollars. Did that deal just fall in my lap? No. Did I search for it over time? Yes. We're my travel dates somewhat flexible? Yes.

I have had both of these cards in the past year. It was impossible to arrange a flight on AA with my points for a funeral I needed to attend. Barclays cannot understand that I do not get mail at my home address, so both have been cancelled. Citibank was just as bad, foreign call centers, and I was on the phone over an hour being transferred from one person to another. My 138K points aren't worth much!

Why are you posting them both in same post. These are average offers. Can you apply for both at same time and only get 1 hard pull on credit report?

Idk I thought the allure of 110k points was more appealing. I was just copying this off thrifty traveler and I've never actually made my own deal post before.

Be gentle on the long time lurker

No not at all! Maybe 2 cards in 2 years lol...
Aviator seems very random. At least I had their credit card before but Delta rejected me for the first time itself and my credit score is really exceptional

Maybe I should never call and cancel a credit card just don't use the card cut it up and put it in your basement lol without yearly fee I mean.

They are among best points to have for those that know the specific sweet spots and want to use them like that! Anyone with AA miles they don't want, I'll take em 🤣
