60K - 110K American Airline Points | $0-2500 spend | $0 annual fee for year 1

60k points - AAdvantage World Elite Mastercard from Barclays. Just for opening the card, and making a single purchase, you will earn 60,000 American Airlines miles. The card's $99 annual fee is even waived in your first year of card membership.

50K points - This card currently has a welcome offer bonus to earn 50,000 AAdvantage Miles after spending $2,500 within the three months of card membership. And the card's $99 annual fee is also waived for the first year of card membership.

Put these two cards together, and spend just $2,500 on the other (the Citi Platinum Select World Elite card) in the first three months. Bam: You've got 110,000 American Airlines miles. All without paying an annual fee in your first year.

That's an easier (and cheaper) path to pile up more than 100,000 miles than you'll find with almost any other airline. Of course, it requires opening two credit cards and responsibly meeting the minimum spending requirement

I'm from east coast. GSP/ATL/CLT to HNL and then leaving from LIH. June 8-28 or around then. All the prices are too much. I may just end up using them for winter travel to Hawaii some time since off peak is so much cheaper. The dynamic awards are ridiculous.

Yeah Hawaii at that time is looking rough. Have you tried self-connecting or multi-city?

This is a kind of weird post. Usually, people just don't add sign-up bonuses for two credit cards.
In addition, the CITI one is just a mediocre offer. They offered 75k in June 2022.
Yeah I thought this was for one card which wouldn't have been bad. Having to sign up for 2 credit cards is not a deal at all...

As someone who was shut down by American Airlines for "gaming the points system", I would advise anyone to take some time to think about this prior to opening two cards just to acquire the bonuses associated with them. The other side of this, if you have to use the recon with Barclays, good luck in any scenario.

I've been thinking about doing Dublin late summer, and flights were way up compared to last year. Looks like 60k miles will just about cover a RT flight from Chicago, thanks!

There's a no-fee aa card that you can switch to. My sister did it recently. I just close my cards
but do you still have the ability to upgrade to the higher version with point benefit if you downgrade rather than cancel?

I have a lot of points but would never use them for business class. I can take twice as many trips on economy with the points.
Depends what you want. I'd rather use points for the experience of J/F class tickets. Y I just pay out of pocket.

It sucks. JAL used to be the absolute best when you had to call to book because it didn't show up on the AA website. Cathay was not bad also. Now it's pretty meh - at least for the AAsaver rates.

AA points aren't the easiest to use (and get a good value). Just be aware of what you are getting.
What are you talking about? I just booked two one way tickets from Lexington, Ky to Seattle, Wa for October for a total of 12,000 miles. Delta is the one that has a terrible redemption rate. We compared the two airlines and American's redemption rate was by far much better.

So I had about 60000 AA points last year. And you would think you can get 2 round trips easily. But man. The cost of airlines was so high last year. I couldn't even get one with these points then I said let me used it for rental or hotels. AA has a separate site where you can book rentals. My points were expiring in September so I had to use them and I had a trip planned. The costs of rentals was also high. So I go to their website cars.aamiles.com and I think it was some relief because I booked a 2 week rental with Subaru outback and spent $400 plus 60,000 miles. I looked at Costco and they were around $1200 so maybe I was able to save some money?
You can use the American Airlines Shopping portal to earn a few points and that allows you to reset the miles expiration date. Not many people realize that you can do that.

I haven't looked at self-connecting. I will probably end up just buying a ticket.

Once I earn the points from both cards, if I cancel the cards before the first annual fees are charged, can I keep the points?

It's so easy to earn a point through a partner that if your miles expire, that's on you. Get gas at shell or something 1 time
Yeah it's on the card holder but shit happens and people forget. It sucks and AA use it as a source of revenue to sell you back the points you earned when that happens. I'm pretty good about it but because I keep track of a lot of rewards programs for three people I have had a couple things expire on me over the years because I lead a busy life. Totally my fault but I for sure really appreciate programs like Chase, Amex, United, Southwest etc that never expire. Doesn't stop me from taking AA points if they are going to give them to me though.
