I have an older Kobalt made by Greenworks. You really need one or two 4AH batteries to effectively use it.
Fraud is not something to be proud of.
You know what sucks? Gas power tools that will not turn on when you need them because they been sitting around for a long time when you didn't need them.

If you hate the relatively simple maintenance required for gas, then use corded. The annoyance of dragging an extension cord is greatly outweighed by the weak power output, replacement cost and ever-shortening runtime of batteries.

I'm Osseo/Maple Grove. Have had since 2017 and it's great (mostly). It's terrible with the really wet slushy stuff but that's usually only a couple inches and 1-2 times per year almost easier to push shovel. I'm not a fan of the plastic auger but not many chips out of it so far - there's a newer version with a rubber flapper style that's better but also $$$. It doesn't much like the pizza box sized hunks of ice at the plow pile but kinda throws them forward vs. chopping up and out the chute. My handle failed last year where it folds probably due to me being rather aggressive in pushing it but I fixed it solidly and cheap with two 1" split pipe hangers.

I have about 1500sf of paved area and 75ft of sidewalk to deal with. And the darned fire hydrant which gets piled up pretty badly. Have used my shovel once this year.

One nice thing is that it's light enough to attack a plow pile from the top.
How long does it take you to get done with your mission? About 30? I'm gearing up for this year's winter being my first and want to stay in the Greenworks family. I'm hoping the ice pic thingy I see for breaking up ice and something like this will get me up and down my future home in about 15-30...

I have this and I've been using this for Midwest winters exclusively for the past 2 years and it works fine as long as you don't expect it to be a 2 stage blower. I have a 2 amp and 4 amp battery and agree a 2 amp for a 2 car driveway and sidewalks with a moderate amount of snow might require charging the 2 amp.

If you live in a place where you need a snow blower do yourself a favor and get a gas one

I just want to chime in as I've dealt with New England weather for three decades. After trying both electric and gas, gas is definitely the way to go.

Exactly. I enjoy the new products these days but snow blowers are ones where you just stick with old fashion

I happened to have HART Lawn mover which came with 40V 4AH battery, looks exactly the same I wonder if they are universal for both these brands ??

Been using this for years. It works pretty well as long as you don't expect miracles. Actually made a video review of it

I've gone through 4 of these in 4 years in suburban house with a short 2-car driveway (i.e. about as simple a scenario as you can get) in Indianapolis (we get snow, but nothing like Chicago, Michigan, or Buffalo). Mostly used for 2-4" of snow at a time.

People like to post complaining about the plastic paddle, but really, that's fine. There's no way the machine will work for long enough for you to need to replace that, except in the most rare of cases. What's happened with all four units is that they inevitably just stop turning on. It's not the battery's fault (Greenworks has replaced the batteries) or the charger's fault (that's been replaced too). Every unit just inevitably does the same thing and won't turn on. Or more specifically, things won't move. The headlight does work, though!

This is a common problem and it's not just me. Avoid this unit until they release an updated version that isn't junk.

(And no, waiting for it to cool off or warm up or whatever doesn't matter. It won't start in the summer, in the garage, or in my house). It's just junk. The plastic paddle is just fine, though. Does a good job at throwing snow when things do move. Was happy with it, other than when it stopped working. All four times.

Maybe I am just lucky, but mine has been running strong now for 7 years without issues.

My first one was bought in 2016 and it's been a struggle ever since. I've paid for 2 of the 4 units and 2 were warranty replacements. I've seen some minor tweaks around insignificant items (the turning bar, the plastic pieces for the headlights, and the hardware you release to fold the handles), but they have all died to the same problem, none with more than ~40 hours of runtime.

Today, I have 0 functional snow blowers after all that. I envy your luck. Loved it when it worked!

Neighbor picked up a similar snowblower, observing and talking to him I can tell gas is probably still the better option. In fact since we got a decent snowfall (chicago area), he broke out his gas one out to deal with it. I have a blower, weed trimmer and lawnmower mower that are all electric, but my observations and research show unless you really want to avoid maintenance a gas snowblower and pressure washer requires. It is often to make exceptions for these two and go with gas powered. Especially if you want a bit of headroom for capabilities.
