I'd recommend waiting if you can. New Oled monitors were announced by different brands and these older ones will definitely drop by a lot more. I'm actually returning my Neo G9 I got for BF from Amazon and waiting on the new ones they announced last month.

I bought this back when they first released. Gaming looks great but the desktop text clarity does bother me some. I was using a 1440p 165hz HP Omen 27i before and it was much sharper/clear for text compared to this. As others mentioned, it's not bad but it is noticeable and kind of a bummer considering this monitor cost more than 2x as much as my previous one (since I bought my previous one brand new when it released too).

The minor annoyance aside - the thing that does greatly bother me is the coil whine. It ... is ... IRRITATING. Sometimes I can calm it down some by enabling/disabling the monitor's built-in lighting effects. For mine it gets louder when there is less image being lit up by the pixels. Screens that are predominantly black... higher coil whine sound. I pretty much have to wear my headphones to help me ignore it.

Unreal I bought this last month and am ONE day out of Dell's 30-day price guarantee. For anyone else this is really good deal on an excellent OLED gaming monitor, emphasis on gaming monitor as this is NOT a great daily driver for desktop work.

I wanted this monitor but now I am on a quest to get this 30% cash back. I signed up for Capitol One shopping and have had the unit in my cart, but I haven't seen the offer yet. All I see is 1.5% cash back. I have a capitol one card that is offering a 3% back reward, but that is not close enough to 30% for me to move forward. Are others able to still replicate this deal?

Same, did not get an email. I have to wonder if it's due to being a new account.

Sure, mentioned above is the fringing issue which is inherent to the panel design and while you can tweak around with font scaling and such, it can't be eliminated entirely and sure to some it's not a big deal and hell I'm one of those people myself but there are times when I see it more than others and at those times ya, don't like it.
Perhaps more impactful than that though and exacerbating the fringing issue is the pixel density...it just isn't ideal on a panel this size. PERFECT for gaming of course; not ideal for desktop work. Basically 1440p is perfect pixel density on a 27' display IMO but any larger and you really start seeing those pixels and in this case it amplifies the fringing.
All that said, in no way is this monitor incapable of being a daily driver for everything...just saying if you really need that emphasis on desktop clarity this isn't your best choice. This monitor is all about HDR content and gaming.

EDIT - might as well complete my mini-review since I've gone this far. You're limited a bit on the HDMI side (2.0 instead of 2.1) so expect to use DP. Firmware is upgradeable unlike the DW model. Do NOT turn the power off every time you're done using it, panel management relies entirely upon the monitor being in standby mode. There is no polarization filter so bright rooms will easily wash out your black levels. Personally I've never heard the fan at all much less coil whine so would say total non-issue compared to the DW. HDR1000 is pretty much broken until they fix it via firmware at some point.
All that said I'm perfectly happy with it as desktop work is 'fine' while gaming is just an absolute treat.
My understanding is the fringing issue isn't inherent to the panel design, it's inherent to the way fonts are rendered in the operating system. It has been optimized over the years for a standard pixel layout, so when displayed on a non-standard pixel layout it appears fuzzy. As in, it could be fixed with software. I wouldn't hold my breath for it, though, at least not until this tech becomes more commonplace.

How about your chrome tabs and scrollbars?
My Chrome is black theme, the bookmarks bar is the only thing but pixel shift should help that.

Seconding what the other guy said, you are imagining the pixel density thing as a placebo effect of something you are looking for my bro.

Happens to the best of us sometimes, the mind is a powerful thing.

The pixel density for the wide resolution at this size is the same as a 27 inch 1440p monitor.

You are right about the other issues tho.

Almost no monitors actually have real gsync with the chip, they are all almost exclusively gsync compatible freesync monitors. It's basically dead at this point.

Just like there are no laptops that actually have real gsync.

Good news is that freesync and Nvidia's version of freesync, "gsync compatible" is pretty decent.

Omg, how was the reboxing/ return for that behemoth? lol
The monitor isn't really that big or hard to move around by yourself and it's surprisingly comfortable on the desk with the aggressive curve.

Like you can easily just hold it with the screen facing the ceiling and walk around with it, partially and again because of the curve.

This monitor lacks the G-Sync module of the non-F version, but is it still G-Sync compatible like a lot of the LG Ultragears? I just don't want screen tearing.
Gsync with the module is pretty much dead. Almost 100 percent of all laptops and monitors now are just freesync monitors that are "gsync compatible".

It's really frustrating to find and get a clear answer, but every newer freesync monitor should be gsync compatible and automatically use some sort of adaptive sync even if it's not gsync compatible but it's been hard to get official confirmation on that 🤷

I am still on my AW3418DW and I love it after almost 5 years. Don't game as much as a use to and I mainly use it for work. Tempted since it has similar pricing to what I paid for the one I have.

Is the text issue really a deal breaker?

This is really going to be subjective. Lots of great advice has been offered in this thread and in reviews, the only way for you to find out is to buy one and try it.

I returned the 38" Alienware from the deal the other week, it's not enough of an upgrade for me from my Acer Predator x34" panel. Especially when I use my s95b and know what OLED is capable of....thought i'd gamble on the dwf and see how bad the text really is.

If it's not a good fit i'll send it back and try one of the models at CES or just do what I should, which is wait for a 4k QD OLED panel. I'll update the thread with my thoughts but like I said, this is going to something that bothers you or it doesn't.

it's a deal breaker.
It's worse than 91 PPI, 1080p IPS monitors from the 2010s. The DWF model is also less brighter than the DW model.

Can you please shed some more light about its unsuitability for work tasks? I tend to use my PCs for work and gaming. Lots of spreadsheet type work.
I returned it due to how bad the text is on it. Very fuzzy and was getting headaches trying to focus on work.

Absolutely wonderful for gaming though
