Vizio M7 75" was a front page deal recently for the same price. The TCL fares much better on rtings.com with an impressive mixed usage score of 8.0. The M7's mixed usage score of 7.7 suffered mostly due its sports and TV show ratings.
It would be hard to know. The thing to remember is if you enjoy the image quality, does anything else matter? The sites that review these are doing side by side comparisons, using measuring devices, etc. General consumers are just doing the eye test with a single device in front of them. We have a 4 series and older 6 series (P607). After tweaking settings, it is really hard to tell the difference with general viewing in comparable viewing environments (night time). The 6 series is in our basement so there is rarely much light to compete with, but the 4 series is on the main floor in a room with a ton of windows. Even when we had them reversed, the sun shining directly on either TV impacted things more than the technical differences between the two.

Just make sure you tweak picture settings (at a min, take it off eco mode), and my guess is you will be pleasantly happy. That advice holds for whatever TV people buy - they usually come on a power saving mode that impact brightness.
I find it funny when people compare TV's in general… just buy what your disposable income allows you to that meets your expectations of use. No one should tell you what your own use case would be for a TV. If you're in front of your TV all day then buy a top of the line Sony or LG OLED. If you're a gamer then get a 120htz tv. If you just watch sports then buy a 77-85" tv. For the kitchen, gym, or garage - save some money and get a smaller 4k from a cheaper brand. If you only watch tv from time to time then get any 4k 55"-70" decent tv like Vizio, TCL, Hisense, etc. most importantly for all of these occasions take warranty into deep consideration from retailers like Costco.

After tons of researching, I am leaning toward this tcl 75' s555, since there are reviews of tcl dying less than 2 years, i want to add the geek squad 5 years warranty for $139.99 total $914.53 after tax(NY).

But also eyeing costco's u7h 75' for $929.99 ($1012 after tax) with 3 years manufacturer warranty.

About $100 more for 120hz refresh rate. I don't game and will use my tv for mainly pc monitor, movies and sports.

Can both tcl and hisense tv owners share their experiences with how reliable your tv is please?

Anyone with bestbuy geek squad or costco hisense repair/replace experiences please share.
Thanks

I was debating getting the U7H but was turned off by its pixel response time on rtings and complaints of motion blur during sports. I do not own either set (just ordered the s555 yesterday) so I cannot confirm the tcl is any better, but rtings says it is

tcl 75s555 and hisense 75u6h both go for $700.
It is hard to decide which one is better. Based on rtings.com tcl has slightly better picture quality, but hisense has google tv (great selection of android apps like kodi etc) with build in Chromecast and it has Bluetooth to connect headphones.

I had tcl few years back and it had visible banding and roku remote was crapy so I am thinking to go with hisense now.

I see a few posts about not having Dolby Atmos. Can someone clarify:

if this TV is connected to a Soundbar via e-arc HDMI and I am streaming Netflix on the tv, would it really not be Dolby Atmos coming through the soundbar?
According to the search, yes.
"eARC is not required for Dolby Atmos to work. Dolby Atmos can work with regular HDMI ARC through the Dolby Digital Plus audio codec. However, those wanting Dolby Atmos TrueHD must use eARC."
This TV (at least for 75") supports eARC.

Went ahead and bought the 65 for $499.
Added the 5 year geek squad for 100 extra due to my terrible luck with TCL TVs.
The viewing angle is definitely not the best though but not bad enough that I dislike it, colors just fade a bit when viewed from side and lose its luster. From the center it looks fantastic though.
I spent an hour looking at the other TVs at best buy but really felt like you have to go OLED or top tier QLED to get that big step up. And those are 3x the cost so went with this. It's a big step up from the 4 series which is just way too dim IMO and only $120 more than those.

the 75 u6h according to rtings is ips, so factor that in. it makes the s555 far superior imo.

but i suppose if you care more about off angle viewing than maybe the u6h is better.

it seems the u6h is carried by best buy brick and mortar (pickup today) and the tcl is not (certainly not within a 150 mile radius of me). that kinda sucks if like me you value instant gratification vs waiting a few days for delivery.

Wasn't 55 inch 200$ before BF?

Believe that was the S546 with Google TV from 2021.

What are you guys talking about? It literally mentions the dolby atmos support on the TCL product page. "DOLBY VISION® & DOLBY ATMOS®

Dolby Vision delivers superior 4K HDR while Dolby Atmos provides immersive surround sound. "Also, I dont think TV's support atmos as much as your setup/reciever/soundbar does.

Or are you talking about the actual TV's speakers? Of course those dont support Atmos. Atmos needs height speakers.

I think this also often depends on the app you are using though as well. Not the TV. As usual with any tech thing in 2023 its a clusterblank.

Also noticed on the TCL product page it has the "suggested price" now at 699. Which IIRC the "suggested price" was (artificially inflated) 999? I guess they are clearance them? Wonder if they could go lower? that said i wouldnt hold out for a tv this huge to go lower, thats a lot of glass and metal.

Seems as of last night they are SOLD OUT! Im pissed. have been planning to order this tonight. Literally NO ONE have these at any other retailer. Only the 4 and 6 series is available now. Having to scramble to see what I'm going to do.
