"Offer is only available to individuals who received a direct communication from Truist. Clients with an existing personal checking account with Truist or who have closed an account with Truist on or after 1/20/22 are not eligible to participate."

How did they get your email if you aren't a client? Edit: Oh, I see, it's by mail, so I guess it's a mailing list.

WTF? Got the flier in the mail with the same promo code as posted on slickdeals. Went to register and got the following message:

Thank you for considering Truist for your banking needs. We will not be able to move forward with your request at this time. In review of your request, we cannot verify your application information through our digital process. If you feel this decision was received in error or that you have incorrectly input information associated with your identity, you may submit a new application on Truist.com, or visit your local Truist branch.
Code 130
Same thing with me. Went in branch. Didn't receive a mailer but said I did and that I had tossed it since I had the code. No issues, took about 30 minutes.

Wealthfront's cash account is at 3.8% (or upto 4.3% with their current promo offer) currently, and they have been automatically increasing my accounts rate with each fed rate increase. They also have a promo right now, which will boost the current rate by 0.5% for 3 months, extendable for upto 12 months, by using a referal link to sign up and referring others. 3.8 is pretty solid, plus they offer $1M fdic insurance, the 0.5/4.3 bonus is gravy. Can't share referrals here, but you can find new referrals easily on reddit.

I was chasing/hopping banks for the best yield, but been pretty happy with Wealthfront so just moved most of my funds there for now. I continue to keep an eye out for better yields, but so far they beat most and are usually pretty quick to increase their rates when the fed does their hikes.
FDIC sets the terms of their insurance, not banks. You can get up to 1 million FDIC insurance on any bank account if you have four signers, 250k each. That is the maximum. And that is all you will get for the "joint ownership" category at that institution.

It is 250k per depositor, per institution, for each of the covered account types (single, joint, etc)

I got this as well, but then I copied the link into a private/incogneto window, and it went through to an enrollment screen without saying it was expired. I'm guessing the referral url from slickdeals is causing issues. Try again in a private window.
That's correct, tried using incognito mode and it allowed to move forward. But, after filling-in all the information it gave an error "Code 130" with message "Thank you for considering Truist for your banking needs. Called their customer service and they said promo needs to be in a mail or an email. .. lol !

So it's really hard to confirm at this point if this is gonna work. Someone mentioned on the thread they were able to open the account in branch.

I also got a mailer for the AMEX option. 3.3% which seems pretty good. Can't comment on how good/bad they are to work with on the banking side though.

A qualifying Direct Deposit is an electronic credit (greater than $0.00) of your salary, pension, Social Security or other regular monthly income deposited into your new checking account by your employer or outside agency. Transfers made from one account to another or deposits made via a branch, ATM, online transfer, mobile device, debit/prepaid card number or the mail are not eligible direct deposits.

Rich people? not really... People with jobs or retirement income? Yes

If you can't handle depositing $1000 into an account over the next three months, then you need a job, not Slickdeals.
I mean I hear what you are saying but a lot of people spend as much as they make. People have have bills and family to support etc
