Update: Sale good thru Feb 4th, in store only. Staples website may show other pricing but this item does appear in their sales add for $279.99 and should be available in store at that price. Ask them to check stock in back of store, my store did not even have a display for this model but did have one in stock in back. Pg 10 of weekly add: https://www.staplesconn

Update: After firing this laptop up this evening I really question if this is IPS (#%!*&!). Staples response in Q&A from the Staples team says it is IPS. But sure seems like TN screen (still nice overall for a budget build and the processor rocks).
I chatted with Asus 1/30/23, they call the screen "IPS-Level" 220nits. I believe the term ips-level is a marketing gimmick by Asus. Maybe a nicer TN but but not ips, color shifts a lot when viewing off angles.

Staples $280 15.6" Laptop with IPS/TN [??] screen, excellent i3-1220P 12th gen processor, lighted keyboard, fingerprint reader, 180 degree lay flat hinge. On sale currently 44% off. In store only not for mail order. Non Touch screen.
The ram at 4GB it comes with (soldered to board) is anemic and upgrade a must! It does have one sodimm vacant ram slot for upgrading (via removing back cover).
Add crucial 8GB ram for $21 from amazon and you will have a Vivobook for $300: with IPS [??] screen, 12GB ram, a vastly superior I3-1220P processor, lighted keyboard & 256GB SSD. 180 degree screen, finger print reader.

If the laptop has a 2nd memory channel and you pop in the memory card, it will "activate" the disabled cores and show up as a "Xe" in Device Manager.

As far as the Xe goes, this should be UHD not Xe as that only shows up in i5 and i7 machines, along with IPS level display as opposed to TN screen here.
No USB C charging.
Fingerprint reader on pad is ok, sometimes finicky.
Backlit keyboard is nice. Keys feel responsive.
Speakers eh, but thats to be expected from a budget laptop.
Ended up adding another 8gb of RAM and the thing runs like a beast.
I cant complain at all for the price I paid, $300 with a $20 Visa gift card. But I do understand if some feel underwhelmed by the screen.

$329.99 online, but other poster referenced getting staples online customer service to match/adjust to the in store price.
Budget machine with an excellent processor i3-1220P. It is a TN screen but is Full HD pixel wise. USB-C is data only, does not do usb-c charging, usb-c will not output video (hdmi port should). Ram should really be upgraded 4GB is not enough.
