Update: Looks like sale extended Feb 5th - 11th [ In Store ]
_____________________________________________________
Update: Sale good thru Feb 4th, in store only. Staples website may show other pricing but this item does appear in their sales add for $279.99 and should be available in store at that price. Ask them to check stock in back of store, my store did not even have a display for this model but did have one in stock in back. Pg 10 of weekly add:

Update: After firing this laptop up this evening I really question if this is IPS (#%!*&!). Staples response in Q&A from the Staples team says it is IPS. But sure seems like TN screen (still nice overall for a budget build and the processor rocks).
I chatted with Asus 1/30/23, they call the screen "IPS-Level" 220nits. I believe the term ips-level is a marketing gimmick by Asus. Maybe a nicer TN but but not ips, color shifts a lot when viewing off angles.

Excellent budget build?
Staples $280 15.6" Laptop with IPS/TN [??] screen, excellent i3-1220P 12th gen processor, lighted keyboard, fingerprint reader, 180 degree lay flat hinge. On sale currently 44% off. In store only not for mail order. Non Touch screen.
The ram at 4GB it comes with (soldered to board) is anemic and upgrade a must! It does have one sodimm vacant ram slot for upgrading (via removing back cover).
Add crucial 8GB ram for $21 from amazon and you will have a Vivobook for $300: with IPS [??] screen, 12GB ram, a vastly superior I3-1220P processor, lighted keyboard & 256GB SSD. 180 degree screen, finger print reader.
Having a hard time with a solid link to this deal. Just enter item# 24527384 in a search at staples.com

If the laptop has a 2nd memory channel and you pop in the memory card, it will "activate" the disabled cores and show up as a "Xe" in Device Manager.

Look back at post #70 sound like up to 32GB in the slot would be recognized (4 + 32) ?

Does it recognize all 32 GB added RAM? Many places say 8 GB is the max. Thanks.
Yes it did. Shows as 36GB

Thanks a lot for sharing; this is great news!
Aside from member baseer (who replied to Kerrupt as you noted) confirming that it apparently recognized 36GB, curious if others here have installed more than 8GB of additional maximum RAM on this laptop and it being recognized and also used by the OS?
IF I get this Asus, aside from adding 32GB of RAM, I would need to be able to connect it to TWO 24 inch monitors to 'Extend' my desktop (i.e. the 'Extend these displays' setting in Windows - NOT mirroring).
1. Is it likely that the above USB-C port carries a video signal? (Specs do not say; already checked).
2. Assuming the USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type C port does not support a video signal and I hence need a video adapter cable from USB-C to the monitors, in that case, which option would be best in your opinion?
Monitors each have 3 inputs - Display Port, Mini DisplayPort and HDMI. They also have 1 DisplayPort out for daisy chaining:
Potential options to get TWO monitors connected (correct me if wrong):
a) Use HDMI port to one of the 2 monitors and then use built-in DisplayPort out jack on that monitor to connect it to the second monitor with a Display Port cable?
b) Use HDMI to one monitor and buy a USB-C to HDMI adapter and HDMI cable to connect to 2nd monitor?
c) Use HDMI to one monitor and buy a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter and DisplayPort cable to connect to 2nd monitor?
Monitors are both Dell U2415

Thanks for any suggestions!
PS: If I pick up the Asus and it supports dual monitors, this would then replace a workhorse 32GB Acer Predator laptop setup with dual 24" monitors that has been great, but is now by far my oldest laptop - have 3 excluding the Asus...).
