Keep the 6100. I've used all levels of Sonicare Toothbrushes and the 6100 is the sweet spot. Though the 4100 is effective at cleaning, its vibration insulation is horrible. It's loud and vibrates way too much through the hands. The 6100 is not only more effective, albeit not drastically, it's more importantly quieter and more comfortable in hand.
Yeah, I'm a dentist and I agree with your dentist. It's oscillating as opposed to vibration with sonicare.
Replying to both of you. I don't have any research offhand that says one is better than the other, so take it with a grain of salt. It's just my professional opinion, which may differ from other professional opinions. I don't think the vibrating is bad per se, but the oscilating is more of a movement overall and so probably clears away more plaque with less manual movement. I don't think the vibrating alone without manual movement will clear away much plaque. There's a reason the hygienists' instruments (prophy cup) spin, not vibrate. If you had a vibrating mop and an oscillating mop, which do you think would leave your floor more clean? Kinda the same idea

The costco is the discontinued 4500 not the 6100

Are you sure? A few people in this thread said it's the 6100. I'm not doubting they may be incorrect but is there a page that confirms the costco model # and it's equivalent?

The price is good till tomorrow, Sunday, Jan 29.

Are you sure it's the 6100? Someone said it's the discontinued 4500.

Dammit. It is the 4500. I thought it read 6100 but checked again. It's the 4500 at costco.

I was responding to someone's quote, guys. They mentioned 6100.

In any case, just go to Costco's website. It's the HX6829/30. I actually ended up buying them cuz I needed a replacement. We'll see how it is. If it vibrates like a jackhammer, it's going back.

Just opened the box that was shipped to me. Is anyone else missing the brush head? My box had the base, charger, and manual but no brush head. Do I complain to Best Buy or Philips to get the missing brush head?

Mine came with one toothbrush handle, one brush head, one charger and one cap as indicated in the box.

I ended up chatting with Philips Customer Service and they sent me two brush heads. I don't think this comes with a case. Has anyone gotten a case for this item?

Oh what's their customer service email? Or do I need to call?

The paper inside said there was a travel case. My box had an empty section.
