Don't forget the ford dealer mark up to make it the exact same price haha
Ford made dealers agree to rules that preclude them from doing that in order to sell EVs. If they try to get around this you can reach out to Ford and they'll try to help you.https://electrek.co/2022/09/14/fo...-sell-evs/

I have owned both a Model Y and currently own a MachE.

Let me address some of the issues and the reasons for my choice because most people here have never owned either are making their own assumptions.

Tesla: Great charging network, but prices per KWH are getting so high now that gas is cheaper or its just cheaper to charge at home. Build quality is not great. I admit it. Theyre quality checks are bad and service is awful. I would go as far as saying they are one of the worst put together cars. However, the tech is great. If you plan on driving long distances, Tesla's supercharger network is unbeatable right now. Range is slightly better than MachE extended range, maybe by 20 miles.

MachE: Good build quality. Slightly less storage space than Model Y. Android auto/car play compatible (Yes Tesla doesnt have this and its a big freaken deal having your phone connect to your car). The drive on this is amazing compared to Model Y, it feels like your flying a jet with amazing aerodynamics. Range is slightly less.

Everyone has their own preference on cars. I sold my Model Y for the following reasons. I like the MachE personally because its a well built car and it is super fun to drive. If you don't believe, go to your Ford dealer and do a test drive. Go to a windy road or a long stretch and you will fall in love or feel like your in heaven. The Model Y felt more like a tugboat feel, felt like I was carrying the car. Tesla supercharging wasnt a big deal for me because honestly the prices are wild now that gas is sometimes cheaper. If you plan on driving less than 250 miles a day or week then the MachE is great. For those that say they think its not a Mustang, ok whatever, I didnt pick the name. Regardless it would smoke most Mustangs in a race. However, I noticed several "real" Mustang owners buying these and they are even complimenting mine. Seems like the only people complaining are those that never had a Mustang. In reality I felt the only thing Tesla had that was superior was their charging network, which has already began opening up to non-Tesla. Superchargers in Europe are way ahead in allowing non-Tesla so I imagine US is not far behind. Also non-Tesla chargers like EvGo and EA are cheaper. Yes they can sometimes be unreliable but over the past few months I have only seen one down whereas a year ago I saw way more not working. Also Ford has been excellent in customer service. When my MY had a problem, they gave me uber credits, thats right uber credits, no loaner. When I took my MachE in for servicing, they gave me a loaner car, which was gas, and then reimbursed me for all my gas receipts as well.

Also, Ford corporate is pissed about car dealers charging over MSRP too. Theyre coming down hard on these people. Ford has even said the dealer model will be phased out over time and is going to be a direct seller in order to cut out dealers. Already has started happening with their Lightning and MachE.

If you are truly in the market for a electric, both are great cars. I gave you the reasons why I picked the MachE. I highly recommend taking both the Model Y and MachE for a testdrive. Find the exact same road and judge for yourself. Don't listen to someone commenting on SD that never even drove either. Judge for yourself.

Still too expensive for what value you get. Get a used Tesla M3 or a new VW ID.4.

Have you driven an electric car?

Try one, and ideally not the low end Chevy. Very responsive due to instant torque. No engine revving. Not the golf cart you think it is. It's iPhone vs flip phone. Also lots more space in smaller footprint due to no engine or driveshaft. Fewer moving parts and less to worry about.

Happy for you to get your wish so the bottom falls out and I pick up an Ioniq 5 at a discount.
The engine revving is one of the more enjoyable aspects of driving.

I don't really care about engines revving or whatever. It's the logistics of everyone driving an EV, the inconvenience of charging them and the unpredictability of batteries that makes me very wary of them, along with the enthusiasts who have zero interest in vetting them until they've been perfected, instead forcing everyone to drive them because they think it's better than a gas car for whatever reason.

That's quite frankly dangerous and a recipe for problems.

Good luck finding one at this price or under. All dealerships have learned to just tack on whatever amount they believe people will pay. Real estate agents and car salesman need to go.
The problem are the loans and the fact that in America, you need a car or your life is over. If people had the option to take a bus or train everywhere, prices would come down a lot. When you hear people say "Mass transit doesn't work in America because it's too big", that's exactly what the auto industry wants to hear.

I lived in the Caribbean and if you didn't have a car, you had so many options to get to your destination. You had minibuses, you had actual buses that went all over the island. If you didn't like the price of a car, you could walk away. Literally. In the US, they know you need a car so they price gouge you and make you pay exorbitant loans. It's ridiculous.

No. Tesla buyers just recently started qualifying again for the federal rebate and most states do not have rebates for Tesla. Do your research.

BTW, I don't like Tesla's but there are so much misinformation in this thread that it's hilarious.
You just verified exactly what I said and somehow disagreed with it.

18-22 week delivery timeline!
What's the timeline if you order a Ford bronco? Or a Tesla or a Honda Civic. If you order a vehicle it's going to take a long time to get it regardless of the brand make or model. Because they have to make it.

I think it'll be worse than that. Government is subsidize the shit out of EV to destroy ICE, also banning ICE. Once ICE is destroy the subsidies will go away and EV will crash and the one holding all the shit is the people. I think that is the main goal.

Law of supply and demand only apply when there is supply and demand. When government completely destroy the supply, the demand will be shot too. So the main question is can government actually destroy the supply of ICE. Likely the people will wake up real quick when the supply of ICE close to it's end. Like when someone cut off your oxygen supply (aka suffocate you), you will wake up real quick and fight for your life (aka crazy amount of demand). If they succeed you will die (law of supply and demand is over, you are dead).

EVs are never taking over. We all learned in December how terrible they are. Hyundai is making ads begging drivers to buy EVs, ROFLMAO. If they're so much better, why do you need to grovel like that? You'll never see an ad by Jeep to beg people to drive their Grand Wagoneer "because it's so much bigger!" People see it and know it has what they want. With an EV, there's so much you have to worry about that doesn't make anyone think it's the future.

Although I ended up buying a Bolt EUV last year as my first EV, I think I'm going with a company that doesn't use dealers, like Tesla next time. Although the car didn't have a markup, they added LoJack and window etching for an extra $1000 which I couldn't get removed, and didn't want to wait for another car. I had an agreed upon price before hand, had a cashiers check ready to go, and it still took me hours to sign the paperwork and drive off. They also did a hard credit check even though I was paying cash, which was dumb. Most people are not going to want things like an extended warranty or gap insurance from a dealership for an inflated price. If you want that stuff you can get it afterwards. I'm probably sounding like a broken record but what's the point of dealerships beyond being a pointless middleman. This is even more true with EV's that need less maintenance.
Same experience with my BOLT EUV. Spent 3 hrs. I'm negotiating a deal now for my girlfriends KIA. They want to do a hard credit hit and I said why? Well its our policy. So I asked why should you be concerned with credit if I'm bring you a check? I'm awaiting a callback LOL

Peace
States are already looking how they can tax the EVs more because they don't use gas. The gas taxes are used to maintain roads. At least that's what we're told they are used for.

They're not junk at all. They're pretty well made and do the job as advertised.

As with any major change, there will be a group of people that accept it, a group of people that it won't work well for, and a group of people that will focus on the negatives despite the product theoretically working for them.

The ideal electric car owner:
- Drives less than 150 miles a day
- Has a garage
- Has a level 2 charger installed
- Lives in an area with stable temperatures
- Lives in highly populated areas

People that will have issues with electric cars:
- Heavy drivers
- People that have to haul things long distances
- People that have to park in the street or in a parking lot
- People that live in extremely cold areas
- People that live in sparsely populated areas where electric infrastructure isn't available

For the later group, you aren't being forced to buy an electric car- you're just seeing the influence of people buying them because a large portion of the population is in the ideal group. Car manufacturers want to switch to all electric in 12 years or so---enough time to build more infrastructure and address the issues of the "non-ideal" electric car owner.

Electric cars work VERY well for a select group of people, and every owner I know absolutely loves theirs (one lady I know is on her 10th year with her BMW i3 this year). To say they're junk, cause more harm than good, or don't work because they don't work in your situation is blatantly false.
Let's be honest, why would anyone sane give up a car that works for a car they have to compromise on in every way?

-You're not a heavy driver? Some days, that will definitely become the case. Or, you may get a job that requires a long commute. Or you will get kids.
-Once again, you may need to haul something a long distance, especially if you own a pickup. Once again, why buy something that can't do the job when you can buy a gas truck that can?
-Even if you have a car with a garage, at some point, you may have to drive somewhere you need to park on the street or in a parking lot. Once again, why buy a car that will inconvenience you?
- Even hot areas cause issues for the batteries.
-If you have to take your electric car to work somewhere rural or to travel and visit someone, you're going to have a bad time.

Everything about EVs seems like it's going backwards. I can't understand why people think this is the future. Worst thing is, no EV fanboy can have a debate proving these cars are superior. They just give me excuses. It's crazy.

Quote from Dr. J View quoted comment :
The average person drives 30-40 miles a day (studies vary) and the average commute is 41 miles (RT). The average person drives 14,263 miles a year. There is a wide spread in the data though; men tend to drive more than women, and the young and very old drive less. The peak group is men 35-54 that drive almost 19k miles a year.

I think what's lost in the discussion is an honest assessment of the pros/cons, and the realization that what works for any given person might not work for everyone, and getting lost in anecdotes vs looking at the big picture.
Just admit the cars are inferior and quit wasting everyone's time. I said forcing EVs on everyone is like giving the Ukrainian Army a tank that only holds ten rounds and telling them it's better than the tank that holds 55 rounds.

Once you go down that path, you should be honest enough to admit you've lost the debate and concede defeat. What we're left here is marketing spin to sell a product that is not as good as its replacement.
