Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

This year's color choices suck! I was hoping to get the burgundy color like last year's.

If you need help with the color choice, here is a good article.

You can just buy a google Fi plan to become an existing customer, and then buy the s22 as existing customer without port-in to qualify for this deal.
This seems to be better and safe option. But If you buy Fi plan, don't you have to wait for the Sim card to come in the mail before you can place an S23 order under this promo?

One more dumb Q. How do you know when your promo req has been fulfilled? Does it say somewhere in your account? Do y'all just cancel your plans at the 120 day mark? Thx. About to pull the trigger with a trade-in I got for free 😊 🤞🏼
There is a countdown timer in the app, Billing section.

Tello seemed like a good idea, but my phone not eSIM compatible. Does anyone know of a workaround beyond a phone that is eSIM compatible?

Google Voice for $3.
I was told by a rep that GV is not eligible. Has one gotten a Google Voice number specifically for this sale and ported it without issue?

One important note people.

For 120 days every night at 12 Fi will ping the SIM, if it is not inserted into the phone you bought you get 500$ charged back. You have to use the Fi SIM in the S23 you buy for entire duration of promo. Learned it the hard way.
Any proof? I did a similar promo with the S22 Ultra. SIM has sat in a drawer for over a month and no issues...

I am also hesitant to use GV, don't want to risk any problems while porting in and Fi charging back the promotion.

Not even close. I use a lot of apps and so I've been using the 512 gig model. I like to store probably 50 to 100 gigs of Spotify music. Tons of video games. So many things. 512 is perfect for internal storage but then I have a serious need for having external card. Just last summer my phone had a SEAL issue and it was destroyed. All of my photos for 6 months were gone. I foolishly had not been putting them on the external card. I do have everything backed up to Google Cloud Storage but not at full quality. I am still very disappointed and upset that the major manufacturers have not kept external cards available. There are so many reasons to have them.

I currently use the 512 gig model and then I have a 512 gig external SD card. both are 3/4 full. about every 6 months to 9 months I will remove the photos from the external card but I just have a lot of stuff going on.
Just to give you an idea, I have O365 that gives me 1TB Onedrive. On Samsung phones, there's an option to directly auto upload to Onedrive and not keep a copy in my phone storage. When you play videos on your phone, it's it streams from Onedrive.

Went with the cream Ultra. Had a free iPhone 11 to trade-in, so why not. Used a GV though for port-in. No risk it, no biscuit I suppose.
