Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

There was another post advising that I'd be able to change whatever number prior to activation so I thought I may be ok.
Yes, you can log into your Fi account after ordering and there's a place to change/update the port in number/info. See screenshot below. If nothing is in there right now, you can add the port-in info.

I was going to jump on this but looks like a family plan only allows one phone per account.

Might have to go individually at $50 a month per person vs $20

Have 3 people

Is there a work around for this?

Anyone had success getting more than one phone?
It's one per group member so if u have 4, each lines would get one.

Until I see an explicit warning that a GV number is not eligible for port-in, I'll continue using GV for my deals. I don't want to tell others what to do and get blamed if their deals fail.
I'm new to Google Fi, so I appreciate others who are knowledgeable sharing & offering their advice, experience, etc.

It seems like you have good intentions and mean well in helping others, but can you please give it a break?

Nobody is denying or arguing that porting a GV # worked for you in the past.

Repeatedly asking people to defend their POV or experience by posting screenshots to defend themselves seems silly.

If you don't believe them, then that's fine.

Some people are concerned about the promotion guidelines and don't want to risk getting invalidated.

My guess is Google Fi is a typical business in wanting customers to leave competitors, and therefore want new customers to port their numbers from AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.

It costs like what? $5 - $10 for a new sim card or new number from Numberbarn, ebay, US Mobile, Hello, and Tello...or even as you or others have mentioned in the past, from Best Buy or Target

https://www.target.com/p/google-f...A-78308412

If you and others want to port in from GV -- then cool.

But for others, $5 - $10 is a small price to pay to abide by Google's fine print for the $500 - $600 promotional discount.

After seeing Google offer a higher trade in value for S21 over S22 and iPhone 11 over iPhone 12 respectively, I don't want to take a chance on their questionable decisions and possible chance they are strict about GV numbers compared to past deals that you and others have gotten.

Others have even contacted Google Fi customer service, and some of their reps have said GV don't qualify for the discount.

Maybe they'll let it slide and honor the $500-$600 instant discount for using a GV #, but for $5 - $10, some of us are willing to use a different method.

I cracked my s10s screen moving yesterday. I was meaning to jump on this deal but now it's all out of stock. Does anyone know if they're doing restocks? Their chat was unhelpful

I'm not doubting what they said or making them defending their position. I just wanted to see that message because as an existing Fi member I don't see the terms that a new member sees. Is that too much to ask? I posted screenshots relevant to my posts, not because I need to prove what I said but because "a picture is worth a thousand words" and many people replied that the screenshots were helpful.

I also said before, I'm offering my experience and knowledge. Whether people want follow what I did or not doesn't make any difference to me. I gain/lose nothing from their decisions.

IF you took all these screen shots during the ordering process, then you can post the one about GV # not being eligible for this deal, as someone here requested.
The ACTUAL port in # eligibility is only done after activation.
Port in # only eligible if it's capable of all three, voice, texts, AND DATA.

So.. the burden of proof to find a number that would ineligible using the GV checker is on me ? lol.. ok then! laugh out loud

If GV's ACTUAL port in eligibility is only verified at the activation stage, what is the whole point of having that functionality built in while signing up for the process ? And, if it IS so, that's Google's goof up, hence the screen shots.

I think they should be restocking. I was waiting on my old Fi promotion for my Fold 4 to finally be marked as completed, which happened to be today. The S23 Ultra was completely out of stock for me earlier in every color but I kept checking and saw availability for the S23 Ultra 512GB in Green only, which was my preferred color anyways, and was able to place an order.

What you're saying about goof ups is correct.

BUT are people here willing to take the chance, and even if right, spend a lot of time and aggravation on the phone with Google support, arguing about conflicting statements of their ordering process, never mind how inept or competent they are???

By the way, do you have that screenshot of the ordering process about the warning of the GV # being ineligible for this deal, as someone here requested???

Such conflicting statements should be a warning sign NOT to gamble the $500 or $600!!!

As I posted several times in the past few days, with attached screenshots, in the past 6 months I've done 5 Fi deals (4 S22 and one P7) with port-in from my GV #. Some of those earlier didn't have that blurb about carriers with voice and data service. The later deals have that clause. Even so, I still was able to use my GV # to port in and completed the promotions.

If Fi had changes the rules in the last few days to no longer allow GV#, please post a screenshot of the message explicitly saying GV number is not eligible. Don't keep quoting that bit that GV has no data.
Seems like there's a bit of differing information. I posted CSR screen shot earlier in thread where they explicitly told me GV will work with promotion (my service just ended with Mint end of last month and didn't want to lose phone# so ported temporarily to GV). Haven't seen any screen shots saying otherwise (just people who say they spoke with CSR and were told no).

9:19:13 AM Me: Can I port the number to Google Voice and then to Google Fi and still get the $600 off deal for new phone?
9:19:17 AM CSR: So that you can transfer it Google FI.
9:19:24 AM CSR: Yes, that will work for you.
9:20:05 AM CSR: Just for your information, From Google Voice to Google Fi it will take 1-5 business days.

That screen shot is in my Google Fi account when I had a pending order with a port-in number. See below. It's the same box where it says "Get Ready Now".

IF order was placed early enough it should ship within a week or so of the 2/16 date, depending on the particular S23 model demand.

Ordered – Delivers Feb 22 - Feb 23

Some posts here show mid-March delivery dates.

I didn't take a screenshot during the online chat, but I got an email copy of the chat.

FWIW, my guess is the promotion will be honored, because I also initially submitted a GV # for porting and got the green check mark for being eligible -- but I don't mind paying $5 for a sim for a temporary # to port in from.
