Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I feel like almost everyone here went with ultra but plus and regular are still available. I went with the plus! Might have the best battery life of the 3 and I don't need the camera or spen. And a little smaller and rounded edges.

Question.. I got a tello number to port in. Said it was eligible and all that, do I have to activate that in any way? Can I just throw the fi sim in the s23+ when I get it and activate the phone, then throw in my regular Verizon sim to actually use the phone? And then I cancel the tello? Thanks for any help

I didn't take a screenshot during the online chat, but I got an email copy of the chat.

FWIW, my guess is the promotion will be honored, because I also initially submitted a GV # for porting and got the green check mark for being eligible -- but I don't mind paying $5 for a sim for a temporary # to port in from.
For me, I just hate now being caught in the middle... I just paid $20 to Google (based on CSR assurance) to ensure I didn't lose my number and don't want to use some burner # on the phone for 4 months.

At this point (with all the confusion and risk), I'd rather just renewed with Mint and not changed phone.

See hpham's screenshot on post #1414.

You do have to activate and transfer the port in # after you receive the phone.
After activation and port in you can take the Google Fi Sim out and use the S23 with any other provider.

As many have stated here, do NOT use the Google Fi Sim in any other phone.
The Tello account should auto cancel after the port out to Google Fi is complete.

I cracked my s10s screen moving yesterday. I was meaning to jump on this deal but now it's all out of stock. Does anyone know if they're doing restocks? Their chat was unhelpful
Even if there is a restock, I doubt late orders will ship within estimates. Samsung messed up the trade-in so basically all their preorders moved over to Google Fi. Add the SD effect into the equation (check the number of views and replies to this thread), multiple YouTubers and websites promoting the Fi deal, they probably got a lot of orders. There are also rumors of supply issues (thus the bad samsung deals), so I feel like it will be by March end that all orders will be fulfilled.

Will phone number with Freedompop service can port in to FI with this promotion? Anyone has experience with that? It will be only $2.99 for sim.

So, all this ( GV uncertainty and what not .. ) confusion got me wondering if the following option may be possible ( just in case Fi explicitly states GV doesn't qualify ) for those who pre-ordered based on the assumption of porting in from GV ( myself included )

Could we activate new service with Fi ( as a new customer ), get a new number ( no port in ) and become an existing customer before the S23x is shipped, received et al

Now, when we receive said pre-order, we pop in the activated sim in to the S23x ( x denotes whatever iteration of the S23 you opted for.. ) and still qualify for the rebate promotion on the device ( no port in, except now our eligibility status has changed from new customer to existing customer )

Hope that makes sense lol..

With that in mind, I reached out to Fi chat, and unfortunately, the rep stated that I would have to follow thru with the port-in to continue eligibility for the promo. Essentially, whatever status ( existing, new w/port in etc ) you used for the pre-order, is what remains and cannot be altered!

Will attach a screen short shortly..

Edit : Screen shot attached

What you did makes sense, especially since you want to keep your existing phone #.

For me, I'm on an AT&T family plan, so I plan on continuing using my AT&T phone #, and have no intention of switching long-term with Google Fi, so I just want a burner # for signing up with Google Fi for the minimum 120 days. So originally, the thought of using a free Google voice # seemed appealing -- but others pointed out the fine print, so for my situation, it wasn't a big deal to get some $5 temporary sim.

If after 4 months you're unhappy with Google Fi, you can switch back to Mint Mobile, right? You're getting a good deal on a new phone with better battery life, so try to look on the bright side! Smilie

Sorry for still being a little clueless, the number I got from tello, I can't activate it on my current phone as it doesn't support an esim. Do I activate the tello esim first on the s23+ when I recieve it?

Or is activating a sim other than the fi sim, on the s23+ first what I DONT want to do, and I need to switch to a physical tello sim I can activate on a different phone prior.

Seems like there's a bit of differing information. I posted CSR screen shot earlier in thread where they explicitly told me GV will work with promotion (my service just ended with Mint end of last month and didn't want to lose phone# so ported temporarily to GV). Haven't seen any screen shots saying otherwise (just people who say they spoke with CSR and were told no).

9:19:13 AM Me: Can I port the number to Google Voice and then to Google Fi and still get the $600 off deal for new phone?
9:19:17 AM CSR: So that you can transfer it Google FI.
9:19:24 AM CSR: Yes, that will work for you.
9:20:05 AM CSR: Just for your information, From Google Voice to Google Fi it will take 1-5 business days.
9:20:09 AM CSR: https://support.google.com/fi/ans...0327?hl=en
It looks like some Google support people may be confused by the normal port in policy that does not apply to this specific deal.
See this post:

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=161497138&postcount=1302

The screenshot below in post # 1416 above clearly states that GV # port in is ineligible for this specific deal.

Could you please post a screenshot of that?

As far as getting an answer from Fi support, a few days ago people tested their GV number when ordering and got "This number is eligible", but at the same time some FI reps said "Yes" and some said "No".
You didn't ask me, but I used their process online to verify numbers are eligible for port in.

The question about if the number is able to be ported in is valid. Clicking that link and verifying another can be ported in is legitimate. And the Google Fi app will say yes to a Google voice number.

However, just because a number can be ported in does not mean that number is allowed for the promotion.

Two separate issues that a lot of people are conflating.

As I posted several times in the past few days, with attached screenshots, in the past 6 months I've done 5 Fi deals (4 S22 and one P7) with port-in from my GV #. Some of those earlier didn't have that blurb about carriers with voice and data service. The later deals have that clause. Even so, I still was able to use my GV # to port in and completed the promotions.

If Fi had changes the rules in the last few days to no longer allow GV#, please post a screenshot of the message explicitly saying GV number is not eligible. Don't keep quoting that bit that GV has no data.
I think the deal is dead now from what I read.

But I don't have to post a screenshot.

According to the webpage as I was following through the process, and other people have seen, Google stated that in order to take advantage of the promotion, the phone line must support voice comma text, data.

It said it right there anyone can go look I'm not going to post a screenshot.

Edit:. I don't know what the Google Fi deals were in the past. And they probably did allow Google voice numbers. I'm only reporting on what I read and others have read. The Google voice number will be approved as able to be ported in. But porting in is different than taking advantage of the promotion. Because the Google page is clearly stated if you violate The rules of the promotion, you get a charge back.

And having a Google voice number that does not support data is a violation of the The promotions rules.
