Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Ultra has a 200MP camera, but it's actually not better quality and in most cases is worse than the 20MP setting. Almost nobody would benefit from the 200MP camera (it's pixel binned).
Ultra has comparable (*slightly* less by 15 mins or so) battery life to the Plus (Plus is slightly more than the Ultra, but barely). They are much longer than the standard S23.
Ultra has an additional camera that is 10x telephoto, for a total of 4 lenses. That's pretty sweet. The other 3 cameras are identical across the entire line.
Ultra has a stylus.
S23+ has rounded corners and personally feels better in the hand to me. The Ultra has square corners and a more rounded screen on the sides, which most people don't like these days (I agree).

Those are the main differences.
Thanks. I was looking at the sensors today and looks like the S23U also has a Laser AF sensor .... is that any noticeable impact in photo quality?

To get a quick refresher on this deal, Just Read the OP and post #1782 and be very careful about using a Google Voice # to port, ........ unless you like living on the edge!!!.
It's a pretty easy deal to do.
Just keep on checking for stock, people cancel and stock shows available.
Quote from M5Rahul :
I'd keep checking, as stock keeps getting replenished randomly. You may not get the color you want ( or maybe you will lol ) ..

I'd also save a card in the billing section, for faster check out and also to lower the possibility of the device being sold out while you're plugging away payment info..
wait. i feel like such a n00b now. out of stock just means shipped late right? whats the point of "pre-orders" if its out of stock? dude. if i cant get the ultra, samsung dropped the ball on generating max rev if people cant order their phones.

also, this promo is only ONE phone? i cant get 2+ w/ promo?

I would like to thank the people who sent me the needed code and sorry I did not see PM's sooner. I can only see them on my laptop not my phone (weird)

Talked to customer service and they added it to my account

For the people who ordered more than one phone on the same day and got info that one of your phones is arriving over 30 days from the 1st one:

Customer service has messaged the powers-that-be to expedite the delivery of our 2nd phone so we can activate all 3 lines at the same time and leave tmobile behind.

It is worth a chat.

They were very helpful.

Good luck!
just to confirm, you got 2 ultras w/ promo?

Include non-rounded corners, which makes it larger. Now add a case. It's a tablet at that point, not a phone.
You ever been accused of being overly dramatic? A tablet seriously, give me a break. Shocking

Bad trade-in values. Samsung used to give like 1k for last year's flagship. This year they reduced it to $500. Which makes sense according to media reports. There is expected to be a very high demand for the S23 series, which is true, and there is also expected to be a supply issue for some parts.

Though, I am confident that Samsung deals should improve in the near future once the supply stabilizes.

I also bought the boost number from ebay in the 'not risky way' Editor's notes above in order to order the phone. Might be a good idea to mention the 15 day limit on the number up there.

Does this number last after it is activated on fi? Can I port it out to GV after a while and know I have a valid cell number for the future?
Are you asking if it will be flagged as a VOIP #?

My google voice number was originally a cell #, but has been on GV for years, and many banks etc. wont accept it because it's not listed as a cell # anymore. It's possible that they only did the initial coding of cell/voip after I transferred it, but I wouldn't count on a # not getting eventually flagged...

The Samsung trade-in values are crap, which is why most people are rightfully thumbing down what they're offering for the pre-orders. The S23U action this time is on this thread for the Google Fi deal since it's relatively easy to do, half-price S23U, and you can keep your old phone to sell it separately to offset the cost better than whatever crap trade-in values Samsung is currently offering.

Haha. That's what they used to call the Samsung Notes.

And those early notes had a whopping 5.7-in screen. By those standards, pretty much everyone today has phablet :-)

I really don't get the point of the Plus. If you're gonna get a phone that large, might as well step up to the Ultra which is similarly sized but has superior cameras. The 10x optical camera in particular on my S22U has been phenomenally useful during a trip in Europe to get close up shots of architecture from afar and just in general useful for reading signs at distance.

For example, this footage was all captured on the S22U 10x camera during Tankfest 2022 in Bovington, UK: https://youtu.be/vzL6CzVD2D4

I was probably at least 100m away from the action so having that 10x camera in your pocket came really handy.

The 10x camera at this point is like a personal requirement for me, and I look forward to the hopefully slight improvements in software and sensors with the 10x camera when I go to Asia in a few months. Hopefully the S23U arrives in time.
For me, reading reddit, etc in bed, holding the phone up, it gets heavy after a while and I use the 22+. The Ultra would be even heavier. I actually have gone down to the base model before ( I tried the s9), but that is too small and the battery life was awful. Even though the Ultra isn't much extra space/weight, after 10 or 15 minutes, my hands get tired of holding the phone up and I would be like, I should have gotten the Ultra. I've honestly debated the base model. I wish it was like 6.4 lol. I find I am going to surf in bed more times than I am going to need a 10x zoom. I actually don't take many pics, etc. Also, I've had a note before, and found I never used the S-pen. Even with my Tab S7+, I never use the S-pen.

Plus It is a little less aggravating in my pockets than the Ultra would be. And that is an every day occurrence as well. So less weight to hold, which I would notice every day, and less of an annoyance carrying it around. If I need a bigger screen, I'll grab my tablet and I am bigger than all of your Ultra's then...

Some people like the zoom, etc, and I get that for sure.

On that note, all of the 22+'s are sold out now.

(And I actually have debated the Ultra quite a bit as well!)

The values changed after some time into the promotion. It is best to just sell your old phone.
