Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Not sure whether anyone posted this earlier in the thread. This other FP thread links to a translucent black case for $5

1. I was able to get 2 cream S23U this a.m., so the deal is not expired.
2. Samsung might have poor trade-in value right now, but once inventory stabilizes, trade in value will substantially increase I believe
3. Please keep checking Fi if you must have the phone now, that inventory pops up late at night
4. I would not dump my S22 for low ball offers, when the trade-in value increases, so will your sale value

Around 1-2 am PST last night, someone here mentioned they grabbed a black S23U, I signed in and saw black was out but cream was there (thankfully). Got 1 on 2 separate accounts, total of 2. Had to refresh 5-10 minutes on the 2nd account. I'm stubborn.

The promo code is someone sending you their code and it gets applied to your account. It gives you one month of service for $20

Having trouble selling my S22 Ultra 512GB phone locally. Had it listed at $950 now down to $750 with someone offering $600. Would love $700 ideally.

Geeeee, that's weird.

$950 for a used S22 Ultra or $600 ($700 with Fi) for a new S23 Ultra.

Pikachu shocked face that you're having trouble selling it.

Well, that's good news for you, right?

You'll easily sell your used phone because 1) nobody can buy a new S22 Ultra for less than your asking price and/or 2) there won't be any more S23 Ultra deals, eh?

Haha.

I really don't get the point of the Plus. If you're gonna get a phone that large, might as well step up to the Ultra which is similarly sized but has superior cameras. The 10x optical camera in particular on my S22U has been phenomenally useful during a trip in Europe to get close up shots of architecture from afar and just in general useful for reading signs at distance.

For example, this footage was all captured on the S22U 10x camera during Tankfest 2022 in Bovington, UK: https://youtu.be/vzL6CzVD2D4

I was probably at least 100m away from the action so having that 10x camera in your pocket came really handy.

The 10x camera at this point is like a personal requirement for me, and I look forward to the hopefully slight improvements in software and sensors with the 10x camera when I go to Asia in a few months. Hopefully the S23U arrives in time.
I weighed the merit and ultimately chose the Plus model. I'll explain the reason for my decision. In daily photo in good light and wide angle shoots smartphone camera performs well and it is when I'll use the camera from the phone. When I need to take long shots I always go with my small mirrorless camera and then transfer them wirelessly to my phone for editing and sharing. The 10x digital zoom may come in handy once a while when I didn't carry my mirrorless but it doesn't happen often for me and usually it's not an important shot.
The Ultra's image stabilization, especially for video recording, is a major advantage. However, I already have an Insta360 X3 for shooting video and I love the 360 stabilization and auto-tracking feature and there's no way I'll go back to a smartphone camera. (You can point to any direction during shooting and then in the post processing point to where you want. Amazing!)

The only thing I might miss from the Ultra is the extra 4GB of RAM, bringing it to a total of 12GB, compared to the Plus's 8GB. In my 6GB RAM S10e I always run screen overlay software and have experienced it being killed and having to restart it manually. The additional RAM in the Ultra may help prevent this from happening.

The main drawback of the U23 of course is the size, and for me more specifically it's the thickness. I own a 0.31 inch S10e and a 0.33 inch iPhone XR. I already know how much the 0.02 inch difference can affect how they fit in my jeans and how it make me reluctant to take the XR out with me. I will live with the thickness everyday when I carry the phone. I would much rather have the 0.30 inch Plus than the 0.35 inch Ultra. This is just a personal preference based on my own experiences and preference.

It's important to remember that everyone has different situations and preferences and it can be difficult to see things from someone else's perspective. Don't assume others are not doing then right thing when they didn't follow what for you is right. Instead, try to learn from different perspectives.
