Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Thanks. I guess my question is what happens in that 24 hour period or what is it that I should see in my Fi account that lets me know that it's safe to remove the Fi sim and insert my provider's sim. Also, are the possible glitches you are referring to related to Hello ports? (not using a Hello number myself). I believe one post at one point mentioned making/receiving a call with the Fi sim as an indication that everything is now set and it's safe to remove the Fi sim, but couldn't find it again.
If you go to account and the go to billing and then FI savings, there will be an in progress tracking. You would see there the phone is activated and then counter about remaining days. I'd wait till that counter changes from 120 days to 119 days before removing the sim.

Is it possible to keep the Google fi sim in and add esim for data only (prepaid data only esim). There are some really cheap 90d plans for a few gigs of data. I'm always connected to wifi and the Google 10 dollar per gig deal sucks. Would that mess with the promo deal? I'm thinking use Google fi for voice and text but use data only esim for data since it's cheaper. I know s23u can do dual sim. I can't really find any other info online about others who activate Google fi sim. Remove it for 120d. Put in their sim of choice and then cancel Google fi at 121d.
Yes. It's possible. You can try the Tmobile 3 month trial on esim as well. I posted my experience with it in this thread. Works great as data for this promotion.

I just heard from support that I can use the google sim on another device without getting charged back… anyone with experiences?
No, you can't. You have to use the sim only in the promotion phone. But if you want to trust some support agent go ahead, but read this thread and the s22 promo thread first..

Lol great, I saw the deal ending tonight and waited until today to place an order

Now I see all 256GB models are OOS and they reduced trade-in value for iphone 11 to $85
And also must remain active for 120 days, promo is trash at this point

The base storage size models were never in stock in the first place because everyone was getting a free size upgrade. The 120 day requirement was present from the beginning. The only thing that changed is the trade-in values. The promo is still great for anyone who's not interested in trading in a phone.

Wait, 256GB models were never in stock? And you're right, if you dont have a device to trade in I guess it's still a good deal. I was going for the S23 Ultra so ~$290 + the cost of four months of service ($120 in my state) was an excellent deal, at $599 +120 not so much

Thanks. I think that's good advice. Why take any risks - I'll just do that.

If you do however follow the method of activating FI with the esim I mentioned in a previous post, then you should technically be able to have the FI and a physical SIM from another career active at the same time. However, that method is unproven so I'd just be safe and wait for the counter to go down a day

Hands down the safest and easiest alternative option to using Google Voice. Thanks for sharing!
So at the moment of ordering I put a number that is not going to be to port in. I buy a hello sim and then what. How do I port in the new hello number in Google Fi sim?

I would also like to know about what he mentioned. Maybe because sounds like hello and tello is something almost 100% safe to port in to fi?

Or if there are other services that someone recommend that you know that works, please do.

I used Ting to complete Visible Port-in requirement, and I got promotion after 61 days, I think it is safe, but it is my first time to use ting to complete Fi, before I just used GV but this time Fi added "data" requirement

The clock struck midnight and the promo terms now say "Offer is valid while supplies last or while the promotion is live and available on the fi.google.com site." Previously, it said valid through Feb 16.
