Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I never realized that SD thread search doesn't appear on mobile browser. Most ppl including myself browse the internet on their phones, I would assume the ppl repeating questions are browsing via phone (sometimes), so really it's SDs fault.
If using chrome, just hit the settings button and toggle to desktop mode.

Guys, I don't think we need people posting that they've received their phone, date ordered, color, etc. We have enough data points on that but now. Just clogs the thread.
Well at this point with the deal being expired what difference does it make? Are you wanting to keep the thread unclogged so that the lazy people can keep asking the same questions over and over? That's what clogs the thread btw.

Question:
After I receive my phone and activate it using the Google fi sim and also the Google account tied to my purchase, and after I can see that the counter is running down from 120 days, can I simply take out the Sim card and throw it in a drawer (yes to that I already know) AND also factory reset the phone before using with my other phone service plan and other Google account?

I'm thinking it's okay to reset the phone afterwards, I would just like to hear from people who have done this before with Google fi. I just do not want there to be any google fi software left on the phone.

I was trying to get a count of how many have shipped (only Ultras, not the regular S23s). A lot of posts are not mentioning which one they got.
Ordered 2/2, S23U Green. Still pending shipment, estimate Feb 24-27.

I don't see why not. The reason one needs to run the Fi app while logged into the Google account that bought the phone is that Google account is tied to the Fi account which has the port in info, and the IMEI number (included in the order details). Once the phone has been activated, you can delete the Fi app unless you want to use it to manage your Fi account. I use my computer for that purpose.
I should 100% know this by now but I believe that last year when I set up the phone, I signed into the Google account not associated with Fi, and then once I had the phone set up I then logged into the Google fi app with the one that I bought the account with only then and there. Does that sound acceptable to you?

Reset if you want, no harm. However, if you decided to activate the S23 using its eSIM, resetting the phone could delete the eSIM and you will have to reactivate it (don't know what effect that has on the counter).

I don't know. I have never done it that way.

Ordered Green S23 Ultra on 2/2 with current delivery dates of 3/1 to 3/8 to NJ. Like others I had delivery dates change and push out further twice two weeks ago but hasn't moved so far.
