Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I am in the same boat. Is yours a FedEx pick up from rancho Cucamonga too?

Ordered black on 2/12 and shipping confirmation today by UPS ground (from IL) to South Cal.
maybe I'll get it next week.
Checked mine again, picked up in IL also but by FedEx Ground.
It's showing tomorrow by end of day on Fedex and order page.
Seems to be sitting in chicago now.
I guess I'll have it on hand tomorrow. That was much faster than I expected though.
Also showing 2lbs weight so hopefully everything is alright.

Google Fi is aware of people subscribing and then cancelling out on these deals, and that's why the cancel period was increased from 30 days to 120 days and 4 months from now when they see a couple of hundred thousand people cancelling, that period will probably increase to 180 or 360 days or more for the next "deal".

The major cell providers learned this lesson and increased their retain periods.
For instance, Verizon went from 6 months to a year and now 3 years before a customer is not liable to being charged for any up front gift card rebates.
Similarly with T-Mobile.

See this Verizon thread started a couple of years ago that for some strange reason is still under Hot Deals even though it's now dead:

https://slickdeals.net/e/14751227-verizon-wireless-port-in-a-phone-and-bring-your-own-device-byod-on-unlimited-plans-get-450-line-now-5-3-21-650-line-now-to-9-30-21-500-line-must-stay-for-12-months?v=1&src=SiteSearch

Over and Out!
So what happened to several S21 and S22 promotions that had 120 day requirements? They ignore those and roll out another set of promotions with the same requirement for S23?

Even the S20 promotion I can find required 90 days, not 30 days [google.com]. The subsequent one was 120 days. [google.com] Not sure when this jump from 30 days to 90 days occurred.

I get warning people of possible risks and consequences, but you're being overly paranoid. And I'm saying that as someone who actively used their Google Fi service for 120 days for the S22 promo, and did not remove the SIM because of others like you warning people in the S22 pre-order thread. They were paranoid that Google could disqualify you if you weren't using actually using the service. All because the terms said "keep the qualifying phone active on Google Fi for 120 consecutive days.".

I am so confused now. Do I need to also worry about what gmail/google account I bought and signed up for the fi deal with? I have one gmail/google account and I have a couple of phones I use with it from verizon. I plan on getting my s23u and using fi with porting a vzw # over as the new Fi # then using another vzw # at the same time if I can figure out how to do the esim.

Thanks for any help, insight and direction!

Very stupid question, but after activating the phone on Google FI, did anyone remove the Fi sim and perform a factor reset, and start using some other sim after the factor reset?
That's what I did. Activated, pulled Fi SIM, factory reset, shutdown phone, put my carrier SIM back in, start and setup. Did that 2 days ago and countdown still continues.

What is the $3 option?
I'm referencing paying $3 to unlock GV number vs $5 or $6 to do Telling, Hello, etc.

So here's a weird situation. My order (Black S23U ordered 2/12) is showing shipped UPS from Addison, IL yesterday 2/21 but it's showing shipper created a label today 2/22 and UPS has not received package yet.

S23 Ultra 512GB Cream ordered 2/7 still not charged or shipped yet. Wish I had just bought black at this point. Supposed delivery March 3-6 but the date has changed several times.

Mine just updated. It was handed off to FedEx and is in transit now. Delivery date was pushed back by 2 days. But with the snow storms, I kinda expected that to happen

I haven't received my phone yet but out of curiosity, I looked up my IMEI number on your site. How come this website (www.imei.info [imei.info]) says my S23 Ultra is a 256GB model with 8GB of RAM instead of the advertised 512GB pre-sale model? Maybe this website isn't very accurate?
Quote from M5Rahul :
Yeah, I saw the same for mine (512/12) as well.. With the device being so new, I don't believe all the info is accurate yet.

Check this site : https://imei.org/check-imei/samsung
I was able to look up my IMEI on Samsung's site directly as well - https://www.samsung.com/us/support/warranty/

Does the s23u come with physical Fi SIM card installed in the Phone or do we have to buy it and then reimburse it?
