Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Yes, I installed the app. But there is no visual voicemail or automatic text transcripts. These are pixel exclusive features, but there was an apk that I got which worked on s20 but I can't find anything for s23...
Visual voicemail is preinstalled in my S23U. And I get auto text transcript. It's linked to Google FI app. Did you delete FI app?

I did not delete the app. Are you getting the visual voicemail as part of the google phone app? Or are you seeing it in visual voicemail samsung app? Samsung app does not have the text transcripts I believe.

No, it's a part of Google Fi app. Check out the Voicemail setting on FI app.
"Visual voicemail is automatically available for Google Fi in the Phone app."

I went there but I still don't see any voicemail tab in the bottom of the phone app. Found https://support.google.com/fi/thr...ltra?hl=en. I guess not much can be done...

The Samsung visual voicemail app does have voicemail to text transcriptions.

I had a box rerouted to a local FedEx office to mitigate the risk of theft. Upon arriving to pick it up, they required me to sign for the package before releasing it to me. However, upon receiving the package, I immediately noticed that it was empty.

I informed the staff that I wished to refuse delivery and have the package returned to the sender. Despite not having left the office yet and informing them that there was a phone inside the box, they claimed that since I had signed for it, the package was now mine. They also informed me that I would need to pay for the return shipping.

After speaking with the manager, he agreed to send the box back to the sender and marked it as "refused delivery." However, when I checked the FedEx tracking information, it shows that the package was "delivered and signed." The manager was unable to provide me with any proof of my return of the package.
Whoa, another one! Well, the silver lining is that Google Fi will know a bunch are getting stolen so as to believe me, I guess. I do wish I had required a signature when I placed the order. I decided not to choose that option because I live in a safe place and don't ever worry about that. Never did I think the box would have been opened while in FedEx's possession, stolen, and then still delivered. I also didn't know the box was a phone when it came to my door, so the light feeling initially meant nothing to me, until I saw the Google logo under the lid after opening.

I think sending it to a FedEx location or requesting a signature is definitely the way to go, in hindsight. However, I can't believe FedEx is also hassling with you about a package you picked up that is empty right there in their plain view.

A Google person reached out to me yesterday with a bunch of questions I answered, like what did the package look like, was it still sealed, did it feel light, etc.

Murphy's law bites again...

I just went to my Samsung account and registered using the IMEI. Correct color and storage for S23U. Warranty valid through mid May 2024.
After I activated my device yesterday, the warranty is now valid through Feb 27, 2024. Seems like they are following in Apple footsteps.

I activated this morning. No check marks yet. Just says $600 off and waiting for $20 Fi credit. But there are no check marks. Hopefully, tomorrow morning I should see all 4.
Received service activated email. Received $20 referral credit email. But no check marks yet. Activated service around 9.35am ET yesterday.

I may have committed a fatal error. I partially activated my S23U on the wrong google account. The Imei appears in the wrong google account but it says a transfer is pending (even though I never completed the port process???) and no phone number assigned. I left google fi and cancelled the port process on the wrong account.

has anyone encountered this kind of situation before?

It's a mess over there at google right now. I got an email saying my payment was declined so I called them but they say it was cleared. Also not getting the check marks for activating and porting number over.
Did you get the check marks?

Ugh. Delivery date changed for the 5th time, moving back a few days. But, on the positive side a pending charge reappeared on my credit card this morning so I am hoping that means this delivery date will finally stick.

Was just notified my trade in iPhone 11 was accepted & credited at its quoted $310 value.

It was reported to have arrived at the "NASHVILLE TN DISTRIBUTION CENTER" on the 25th, and USPS tracking is showing it is still there.

While I have had very good luck with the USPS overall, anything that I ship or receive that goes through that hub seems to have tracking issues..

The name on the google account is different than the name on the credit card / shipment, etc. Not sure if that is playing any role. 25 hours and no check marks.

You can activate S23 using eSIM without affecting the promo?
I would chat with support first.
