Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I removed fi sim and then inserted vzw sim then did a factory reset and all went well. Except I dont like the size of the s23u and I am sticking with fold 4.
I needed a device for document editing and switching between multiple apps. Bought a tablet but it was too big to hold in one hand. S23 Ultra is a better fit because it's smaller than the 8" tablet and comes with a better processor.

Can't choose a phone I am only given the option to bring my own for some reason, if I use a different Google account to sign up all the phones show up to choose from, don't know what's wrong with my Google account.

Did anyone notice manufacturing quality issues? I had two S23U one made in Korea and other from Vietnam. I noticed the SIM tray in Vietnam made phone is not holding the sim properly.

I think the product quality (rather than features) is a major factor for users moving to Apple.
Mine is made in Vietnam. I see no problem. It's mainly assembly process there. I see bad apple product too. low quality battery cells.

Just curious - Does the bootloader and shutdown animation change after you insert a SIM from another company? Like from the default samsung animation to tmobile, att or verizon logo animation?

Not on my Fi S23 with a Tracfone SIM in it. Still showing Samsung animation.

It shouldn't. This runs an unlocked image not a carrier one which has those animations baked in.

go to fi.google.com and then bill and then track savings (The same info will be available in the FI app as well if you have uninstalled the FI app everywhere else).

Lol I live an hour from Google HQ but my phone is coming from. Hodgkins, IL. Guess they have a distribution center near there?

UPS says it's 0.90LBs so hopefully it's not an empty box. 🤞

Edit..anyone port in from xfinity mobile? Curious what I will need.
