Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I just want to tell this forum a BIG thanks!!!
If it was not for this thread, I would not be able to get this amazing phone. Coming from a fully capable Galaxy Note 8, way better proccesor than other recent Samsung phones, but the lack of updates makes it obsolete. THANK YOU ALL!! GREAT FORUM.

Please keep us updated. Mine shows delivered today in Nashville. I think it should be delivered to La Vergne. No word from Google yet.
My trade-in got delivered today. Not yet marked as received by Google Fi.

Deleted Fi app, had to restart the phone for unrelated reasons but when i did i got the same notification you get when you first boot up the phone: to download the Fi app in order to activate your mobile service. Obviously I'm pretty sure this is just some bug and not anything serious, but has anyone else gotten this notification after restarting? It was a constant notification too, couldnt get rid of it so i downloaded the Fi app to make it go away..and promptly deleted it again.

I got that message but because after deleting the Fi app on the S23 I used Smartswitch to transfer files over from my S22 and the Fi app was copied over again. It said the activation was incomplete (because the Fi app on the S22 was logged into a different Fi account).

There's a different message. If you boot up with no physical SIM and the eSIM is not active, it will nag you to activate the eSIM. But the phone's firmware is doing that, nor the Fi app.

Once I remove the Fi app and the Fi SIM, I will factory reset the device. The device will ask me to setup the eSIM during the boot process or once the phone is setup? Thanks

During the boot process, but it's just a nag that you can swipe to the right to clear. It won't nag if there's a physical SIM in the phone.

Looks like $6.93 in taxes and regulatory fees here in NorCal (on the $50 unlimited plan).

Thanks. I want to setup eSIM for Sprint/TMo...let's see if that works out.

Delete Fi App.
Power off and remove Fi SIM.
Power On and then factory reset the device.
During the startup process, setup eSIM.

Hopefully the above steps will work.

Simply turn your phone off for electronically safe.
Take out your Fi Sim
Power on and factory reset. This will delete Fi App.
Contact or login your Sprint/Tmobile for eSIM

Nothing fancy as long as the Fi Sim is not going to be placed on any different phone during those 120 days to cancelation of overpriced $20 plan + $10 tax in TX for me and many other SDers here.

Can I take the phone for international travel (Purchase an esim for the country where I am going to). Will the count down continue or since goolge count call the phone any more, so it won't work?
You surely can. I would go with a physical sim instead in case I need to change phone or throw away the sim while in a foreign country.

Enjoy your new phone and your international travels. Watch out for pocket-pickers in crowded areas.

Ordered 2/16
received/activated 3/4

Payment is due 3/17
so why is the billing cycle started on 2/16 and not 3/4 ? seems a bit slimy tactic
order was delayed 2-3 times, why is that our fault?

no remorse doing the 120 days (which ironically started on 3/4 and not 2/16) and dropping the service.

I did, I could not find anyone using the S23U with Google Fi and adding a second eSim as main carrier.

Please take a look at the bill when it's available and tell us when the billing period starts and ends.

Typically billing starts 2 days after activation. You activated on 3/4, billing starts on 3/6 and covers through 4/5. Bill is auto paid on 3/17. You actually get 2 free days of service. Nothing slimy about it.
