Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Maybe but most people pay for Wi-Fi anyway. Just having the deal available is a big plus just like people who were able to take advantage of the BB S22 deal last year.
That deal is limited in 2 major ways...
1. Spectrum isn't available to the masses like Google Fi was (especially when you didn't even have to use the service).
2. The Google Fi deal got the storage upgrade from 128gb to 256gb.

You can pause your service on the 121st day to preserve your unused referral credit. If you have any unused TRADE-IN credit, they will be refunded about 2 billing cycles after cancellation.

One of my Fi accounts has $55.01 unused credit, $35.01 of that is trade-in credit. So I cancelled it last month after pausing for a while to get a refund of $35.01.
Just to confirm, if I cancel my account and lose the phone number after I completed the 120 day requirement I will automatically be refunded the remaining trade-in credit? Thanks hpham

I got a refund for one of my Fi accounts two billing cycles after I canceled it. When I find my cc statement with the credit, I'll post it a picture of it.

I found some info but the account was closed in early Feb and the billing/credit info is no longer fully available (some download links no longer work). So I can't say for certain that the refund I got was from unused trade-in credit or remaining service for the last billing period. I know for sure that when the account was cancelled in early Feb it had a $2.31 credit and they issued a $2.31 refund in early April. See attachments.

BTW, I cancelled another account on 4/28/23 and it had $35.01 in unused trade-in credit. If Fi issue a refund around end of June or early July then I'll post an update.

Would I be forced to keep FI service *ON THE S23 ULTRA*, or would it still fulfill the terms of the agreement if I moved the Fi service to a Pixel 6A that I have? I'd still run the 4 month term to satisfy that part of the agreement, obviously.

Basically, can I use the S23U on my main line from the word go, and as long as I fulfill the 120 days on the 6A, am I OK, or will Uncle Google screw me for that?

Anybody know that particular scenario?
Doesn't matter but since I now know answer I will share. After keeping my existing fi sim in s23u I discovered I just needed to have fi service active, not paused or canceled and after it was activated I could swap Sims wherever I wanted. So have t-mobile sim in s23u now and countdown is still going as before without issue. Depends on your promotion terms.

You can put another provider's SIM in your S23U and use it instead of the Fi SIM that came witth the S23U. Put the Fi SIM away, but do not use that Fi SIM in another phone (which is what sarlo100 was asking). Use that Fi SIM in another phone and you'll get a notification from Fi that your promotion will be voided.

Good to see you are still active in this forum. It seems like you've gone thru the entire process now.

Since a lot of us are coming near the end of the promo period, do you mind adding to the top of the wiki about the cancelling process. I don't have the phone anymore but I am on track to earn really soon.

The countdown will never say zero day. On the 120th day, it will stay at "1 more day". On the morning of the 121st day, the countdown should say "Stayed (past tense) active on Fi for 120 days in a row". Then later in the day, the In Progress column disappears, and the promo discount gets moved to the Earned column. At that time or later, it's safe to cancel your Fi service. See attachments from my S22 deal.
Can you put this in the top of the wiki?

You'll need to wait until your promotion has been Earned (completed 120 days of service) before porting out if you don't want to lose your promotion discount.

Typically, your billing cycle starts about 2 days after activation, and some months during this deal period have 31 days (March, May) while Fi billing cycle starts on the same Day Of The Month, so after 4 months your 121st should be a few days before your billing cycle ends. Post your activation date and your billing cycle dates and I can give you a clearer answer.

I see my day of billing and 120th day on same day.
Does that mean I will need to pay for another beyond the 4th month to be safe ?
How can I avoid paying for one more month of service?

Since you have to wait until the 121st day to cancel, you'll be going into the 5th billing period. But it's not the end of the world because Fi will prorate the 5th bill for the actual days used in the 5th billing period (one day or two) and give you a refund for the unused days AFTER about 2 billing periods.
