I clicked on this and Amazon said k bought it in November 2021 for $3.50. It was an Alexa Black Friday deal, so doesn't count. $22.99 - $19.50 FWIW.
I checked the four pack and confirmed it does NOT have energy monitoring, so no go, but there was an Amazon "there's a newer version" link further down the page.
Kasa Smart Plug Mini 15A, Apple HomeKit Supported, Smart Outlet Works with Siri, Alexa & Google Home, No Hub Required, UL Certified, App Control, Scheduling, Timer, 2.4G WiFi Only, 4-Pack (EP25P4) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B14C719T
This is a 4-pack of Kasa Mini Smart Plugs that are HomeKit compatible for $42.21.
The camels show this has been around since June and regularly bounced between $40, $45, and $50 every couple of weeks.
I have a $5 clickable coupon that should bring the price down to $37.21, which is below the all-time low. $9.30 each for a newer (possibly better) version of you want four.
I run SmartThings and would much rather have Zigbee (hub-based) devices, but I was going to get one of these.
I just recently got a smart electric meter with time-of-day electricity pricing and want to learn more about my usage patterns.
None of these are compatible with Matter, the new industry standard to let smart devices interoperate.
I did a little looking at TP-Link's site, and it looks like they just launched a new Matter-compatible smart plug.
TP-Link Tapo Matter Compatible Smart Plug Mini, Compact Design, 15A/1800W Max, Super Easy Setup, Works with Apple Home, Alexa & Google Home, UL Certified, 2.4G Wi-Fi Only, White, Tapo P125M https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNWGZ545
It's $19.99 on Amazon, but there's a 20% Off code on TP-Link's web site. If you enter code 20MATTER in Amazon's cart, you'll get the new plug for $16. It appears to work on any quantity.
TP-Link has lots of new devices planned to work with Matter. I might get one or two of these Tapo Matter-compatible smart plugs to play with. A $3 premium ($16 vs $13) over this Kasa seems like a reasonable price for a (hopefully) future-proof product.
I think I've talked myself out of getting either of these Kasa plugs, but they could still be a great buy for others.

The price is not really great on this unless you really need energy monitoring. You can also get Switchbot mini plugs for around $6-7 each that support energy monitoring (also supported in Home Assistant locally), but the Switchbot plugs definitely trip more often when connected to power hungry devices. If you wanted to do energy monitoring on a fridge, TV, or PC, then this TP-Link plug is probably safer to use than Switchbot plugs.
The only smart plug I've used that *seems* robust enough for EV chargers, however YMMV and use at your own risk, after thoroughly researching and reading owner's manual. The relays on the others seem to die sooner and possibly dangerously with large loads, so still be careful with this one. I have an EV from 2016 that does not have any smart features to it (except charging power adjustability) so to stop charging before 100% I can put this on a timer to shut off. Downside is shutting off repeatedly at full rated power is horrible on the internal parts of this plug, but I will replace within 3 years and monitor it closely in a safe location.
Aside from the hardware, the software and UI just simply work. No fiddling, no delay, no base or hubs.

these have been on woot under $10/ea and are often black friday/prime day for under $5. If you don't need them now I'd wait, but $13 isn't a bad deal. They are great for both remote on/off and tracking how many watts your stuff is pulling (e.g. computers, small appliances, etc)
No issues with any of mine, I'm using 8 at the moment.
I'm waiting for new versions that can work locally when the internet is down.
Wait no longer. This one works fine with no internet. Direct communication via local IP. Can even provision them 100% locally without the Kasa app if you like.

There also seems to be several Amazon Warehouse ones for sale as well. It's not a huge savings, but found a Used - Like New one for $11.49. Says it comes in original packaging so I saved a few bucks there.
I have my washing machine plugged into one. When the power drops, the washing machine is finished. Alexa will announce throughout the house "the washing machine is finished and you need to move the clothes to the dryer".

The EP line of smart plugs does not have energy monitoring. The KP115 (this deal) does.
Also, the recent deal of the Kasa HS300 has 6 outlets for $46.99 ($7.83/outlet) also has energy monitoring per outlet, but got down voted for having USB A outlets that aren't controllable. 🤣 A much better deal if it fits your use case.

The 4 pack I posted (EP25P4) says right on the box that it has energy monitoring.
Never had any luck with these. the TP Link smart plugs. They'd disconnect without warning, and would then require some kind of intervention (like a reset or reconnection action through the app) to get back up and running. This is across 2-3 similar devices from their line.
This is in stark contrast to the Stitch by Monoprice line of plugs, for which I have criticisms about the poor UX of the controlling app, at least have remained solidly reliable, requiring not a single reset to keep working over the course of 3+ years.
Maybe this experience is specific to my home electrical or wifi setup and you'll be perfectly fine with these, but I never had the same issues with Stitch devices.
If these symptoms and/or a solution exists and was posted somewhere here, apologies as I didn't have time to read the entirety of this very long thread

No, but the $12 Wyze outdoor plug in the other deal is hackable to run ESPhome or Tasmota, and as a bonus has more features than this one like the second outlet and light sensing.
I don't want a device that needs to communicate to a server just to turn on/off, want to run with my own home automation server/scripts.
Does this KASA KP115 do that?
Looks like matter devices need a (in-house) matter server?

Or you can get the Wyze plug mentioned above instead to run custom firmware.

No issues with Alexa.
Agree, not a good price. Unless you absolutely need only one. Even then, it is not a good price.
Use Watt app for iOS.

I have been eyeing the power strip, but really can't compare to the individual plugs that can be placed in multiple locations.
