I've read that my fellow SD-ers don't care for carrier promotions. Okay, but this one is good.
I've been on T-Mobile for years, and I've had good experience with them, although YMMV. If you're on their Magenta Max plan, as I am, or are willing to switch to that plan, here's the deal:
$1,379.99 Galaxy S23 Ultra, 512GB, full price
(180.00) Samsung's current promo of 512GB for the price of 256GB
-------------
$1,199.99 T-Mo's price for the phone
(1,000.00) T-Mo's current trade-in promotion for my Galaxy S21+ 5G
-------------
199.99 which must be paid in 24 monthly instalments of $8.34
========
Older phones get less than $1,000 trade-in.
Depending on your state, you'll have to pay tax on $1,199.99 up front. Also, T-Mo charges a $35 upgrade fee (taxable) which is pure BS, so I'm going to try to get it back.
Caveats:
1- Have to be okay with a carrier-locked phone, at least until it's paid for.
2- Have to be okay with T-Mobile. (Verizon has a similar deal.)
3- Have to be on their Magenta Max plan. I'm on MM 55+. (Membership has its privileges.

)
4- Only recent phones qualify for $1,000 trade-in.
And also this ...
5- Have to be okay with the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Not everyone is impressed by it.
TBH, I don't really need all that the S23 Ultra offers, but for $200, WTH. And it will assure me of a top-dollar trade-in for the next phone.

I upgraded two lines 4-5 months before their 24-month cycle around BF last year. One of the phones I paid off as it had very little balance and another still has balance. Both lines continue to receive both old and new credits.
Yes, T-Mo credits will continue as long as plan and phone line is still alive even after trade in.

You know, I just upgraded to magenta military max cuz it was easy to get this deal for two phones while upgrading all lines to to up 4K streaming on the network and banishing that standard definition limit.
The agent told me in a chat session that magenta military Max would be $100 for four phones. Which I don't understand because when I looked at the option too compare plans it was coming in at 140 for Magenta military max.
So I'm just going to go with it and I have the price and chat history. Maybe the agent made a mistake or maybe they didn't.

T-Mobile will convert phone payment credits to general account credits (toward your phone plan) if you pay it off early.
The account credits still apply monthly.

I have 7 lines (paying for 2 with insider discount) and my bill is around $100 (a little less due to credits). And this is Magenta Max.
Side note: could've been 8 lines, but I missed one of the free line promos
