The Classic I model periodically goes on sale for $500 but it has an older style hinge. That is not too bad but I recommend this version.
Ten plus year old Green Egg purchased at about same price hasn't had any cracked components…knock on wood.
Buyer beware Kamado cooking can definitely change your worldview on grilling/smoking.
Was also looking at this gravity fed masterbuilt, which is also oos. Folks seem to be buying em up fast.

Check Walmart I saw one on clearance
Finally opened the box this past June and assembled (man, it was heavy) - it cooks ok, I guess. Wish it would get hotter- don't believe the hype. People used to act like you could just use a tiny amount of charcoal, not at all the case in my experience, I used lump and definitely you need to load that basket. Honestly no better than a Weber kettle imo- flame away!
Personally, I don't see the point in not keeping the firebox full of charcoal. If you're running 150F, the charcoal you don't use, and it should be a fair bit, will still be there the next time. At nuke temps I tend to use up the charcoal by the end. So I just fill up regardless.
But I do agree with whoever said it uses more charcoal the some folks claim. But that's also partly related to how you use it. Lower temps won't use as much.
As for the deal, I've seen $800 a few times. Yes, it's been lower but that's been the rare year end clearance or other unusual event. I remember Walmart, about 4-5 years ago, was clearing these out at $339. But not all stores had them. So if you're looking for a Kamado, you can jump on now at the normal lowest price or wait for the unicorn that may not come.

Haven't had this much fun with smoking noms in quite some time. Other commenters have (ahem) commented on the excellent build quality, along with the hinge on the back and the one-hand open on the front.
Combine this with a Looft lighter and a Meater probe and you're pretty much good to go
edit: mixing my BGE and KJ terms

You can do a double indirect on the one and two however the three does have three levels and a bit of extra height on the inside.
