Now that I invested in picks, time to get a guitar. Any deal on a guitar for beginners?

Guitar Center has a variety of acoustics on sale.. there's a ton of reviews on these. You can honestly get something decent to start on for even cheaper than your $200 budget.

Drop $70 and see if you like playing... Then move up to something better if you're digging it.

There's some starter packs on sale as well, but to be honest you can get any of the filler items they throw in for super cheap on Amazon. So don't feel pressured to buy a full kit they put together.

Grab that $70 guitar... it's a good value to start up playing on.. my two cents.

How about a very cheap left handed electric bass or even main guitar?? I've bought a few regulars but just could not make my finger work right. (Oh and I suck at it and all my 'training' is from YouTube. (Please recommend something better for beginners)

Sorry I'm old, MTV messed me up because I'm right handed, but I mirrored the videos so much I would be a left handed player LOL.

Being 54 now and for decades I've always wanted to desperately learn to play something other than a baritone (long story) …. My goal it to go to my son's house one day, grab his guitar, and just puke out a rift that would shock him to his shorts..

C'mon alllll you dads! Ya know you'd absolutely love to see the reaction and appreciation!! If I can figure this out, I'll even video it and share it with the community!

Wow! Sorry for the long post, but most of you are pretty damn good peeps.. saved me a fortune! Smilie.

Shoot me a PM if you want or reply here to any and all resources to help me with! (P.S. Not worried about the cost but be sensible.. I'm not gonna pull a $2000 prank on my adult kid.. ok.. well .. maybe not a $3500 prank..)

Sorry again. Love this community and ever single person that is part of it.

Thanks for the tips. To start learning guitar, what's the best way to learn without paying for an actual class/instructor. Do those phone apps help someone start learning to play?

YouTube... There's so many great channels.

Find a teacher on there for free and go at your own pace.
