The internal batteries are lithium, they shouldn't require charging every two weeks, NOCO recommends every 6 months, but most users are reporting that they have to charge it every month. Then again, if the discharge rate is that quick, every two weeks isn't crazy, but that tells you the poor quality of the batteries. not to mention the super low capacity at 2150mah vs other brands.

i have one of these and struggle to start my cars right away. ive had a cheap lithium jump starter and a few lead acid starter boxes, they were all able to easily start my car with in moments of hooking them up. however my NOCO always gives me problems.

These are great little boxes if and only if you keep them regularly charged and at home (which is very inconvenient if you actually need them). If you live in a place like I do where it regularly gets over 100 degrees you cannot keep them in your car or garage. I've been through a few of them and each time the heat killed them. I've tried this exact one and a few different brands and if you forget them in the car, they're toast. But if you're like me and have a motorcycle or two that doesn't get ridden as often as it should you can't beat the size and portability. I still keep getting these because if you have a woot coupon the portability plus price make it okay. Plus noco sells attachment leads you can route to your battery box and plug this into them to jumpstart without having to disassemble your bike. Just leave them in a riding bag that's stored in your nice cool house and set a reminder on your phone to charge it every couple weeks. No one wants to be the guy that ruins a group ride or poker run after pulling up to a gas station and getting stuck there.

I would go with the GB70. It's $164.99 It's normally $199 on Amazon. I think it's better to have 2000 amps than just 1000.

I've had this GB40 since December of 2018. I neglect it, though it has never let me down. Completely dead batteries (to where it requires clicking the '!' button) on v8s and this has zero issue jumping. On occasions allowing it to "click" for a few minutes to charge the dead battery is required, but this thing has been rock solid.

Just used mine last weekend for the first time! I think a charge about every 6 months is correct. You might have a tid bit left after 12 months, but 6 months to top it off is best.

I just connected it up to the battery, it blinked like a christmas tree & lit up white on the zappy icon LED and then it started.

So much easier and safer than jumper cables!

I now own 3 of these.

I previously owned the GB40 and its a pile of trash... doesn't have much power and would never stay charged long term. The higher end NOCO's might be better but the GB40 is not one I would recommend in case of an emergency.

I have since upgraded to the Gooloo GP2000 and GP4000 for my cars and my wife's car. The Gooloo's have been rock solid and keep their charge for a crazy long time. I set a google calendar reminder every 6 months to recharge them and they have always been nearly full.

I have jumpstarted my wife's Mazda CX-5, my BMW 335, my mother in laws 4L V6 Tacoma and sometimes random stranger's cars that need a boost without a single issue with my Gooloo jump starters. Once we tried to jump start my wife's Mazda CX-5 after her sister left the interior light on and the GB40 we had at the time in her car couldn't do it.

FYI Project Farm also tested the GB40 and it didn't do very well, he also tested both the Gooloo's that I have and they did great.

This is the Gooloo I have in my 6cyl BMW that has worked great. BTW it has a Coupon which makes it the same price as this GB40, only way better in my personal experience: https://www.amazon.com/GOOLOO-GP2...NrPXRydWU=

You should get a super capacitor car jump starter. I'm pretty sure you can leave those in your car and you don't need to worry about them dying in extreme cold/heat or discharge.

You ever push start a bike? Even easier if you're on a group ride. Two guys give you a running shove, pop the clutch, and you're back on the road faster than it takes to hook this jumpstarter to your battery. If you can get the bike pointed downhill, you can easily push start a bike even by yourself under half a minute. It's a good skill to know if you're a rider.
With that being said, there has been times where I'm by myself, on flat ground, trying to push my heavy ass adventure bike to a running start, while wearing full protective gear in 90+ degree weather, where I would've killed for this Jumpstarter.
One's an automatic trans Goldwing and the other is an efi with slipper clutch. Sadly the days of push starting and engine braking are gone.

Same here. I have this model and was very disappointed with it. I figured I was somehow doing something wrong but have read negative reviews on auto forums confirming issues with NOCO chargers

I just used bought this and used this in extreme cold. It didn't help and battery charge was gone. Had to call road service. This 1000amp m8ght only help if you have a newer car with not so beaten up engine, no starter or ignition problem, not cold outside, and your battery still has some juice and your car somehow cranking and sounds like wanna start, but not, and just need extra boost. Now, most of the cars needing boost are in one or more of those Mal conditions I outlined. So, no, don't go for this.

I spent hours and hours last couple of days on having one of these. So, I have narrowed it down to

Gooloo GT4000s, 4000amp, and 28600 mah battery, for 130 on Amazon and Walmart right now, GT series has newer features such as lcd display etc. (GT4000, without the s, has some warming feature for ultra cold climate and is around 200) this high capacity is worth it for peace of mind

Gooloo GP4000, is almost the same above but without the LCD feature and some less whistles, is 110 on Walmart and Amazon.

Yesper yjs40 with 4120Amp but less mah battery than gooloo has also good rating, and only 90 on Walmart, 150 on Amazon

I can not begin how much contradictions, and flawed reviews I have found, nothing consistent. But, that's what I have picked lesser of all evils and on lower end price with high Amp and mah battery. I am torn between gooloo gt4000s for 130 (extra 20 over gp model may be worth ot for newer improved features) and yesper with around 4.7/4.8 user ratings. If you find something, please add. But don't go for lower than 3000amp on Lithium starters and always look for higher mah batteries as a general rule.

Alternatively, the acid lead batteries JNC660 from clore on Walmart is about a good one but is old style, heavy and bulky.

Couldn't cold start a V8 charger with 9.6v dead battery. Pack was storage charged, car charged to full, heated to around 90 degrees, and still didnt have the power.

A cheap, china made GooLoo box (that was half charged and cold), turned it over without hesitation. This things externals look nice and seem well built, internals are weak.

A sheep in wolfs clothing.
strange, i've had one for years... jumps everything from a Civic i4, TL V6, Jeep V6, and my Chevelle's 350. never had an issue.
they've changed the clamps on these... that new style doesn't look great.

I was debating returning it, decided to keep it as its outside the return window. NOCO said the engine/battery size is outside the compatible size for the starter. Blamed the vehicles oversized battery/charge state/engine size/temp of vehicle.

It was a 2020 dodge charger pursuit 5.7 AWD rear battery vehicle that was in 40 degree weather. Gooloo didnt have an issue.

I have a GooLoo that I had to buy after my Noco died again. The GooLoo was rated at more amps and cost a bit less. I'm in Nj and it jumped my suv in 10 degrees
Project Farm rated the GooLoo GP4000 (I think?) pretty highly.

huh, interesting... i assume like everything else in the past several years, their products could've gone to shit. which model GooLoo do you have? i'm sure at some point i'll need something new, good to know if something can jump all my stuff.

nice car btw, i'm sure that thing is fun with AWD... i've only driven RWD chargers.

Its the gt4000. I got it for around 80 bucks. The AWD chargers are a wonderful vehicle, if you like cars, the AWD version will replace SUV's in snowy weather.

I have the gb45 which has 25% more amps and usb c 60w fast charging in and out. I read the gb40 takes hours to charge. So far I've used it twice on 4 cylinder cars with instant starts both times. Haven't tried on my v8 yet.
GBX45 you mean. Those models move up to USBC and are so much faster to charge. Got one of them when it floated down to $100 for my travel vehicle.

Probably the part most overlook with these is they are much safer to use than jumper cables for the average person. You might be the smartest person around but if the other person connects their battery side wrong, either start a fire or roast the ECUs in either car. Then both cars are dead. A little jump start battery helps remove the damage component to your own car or truck when you go to help someone.
