I have these on the TVs mainly for mirroring the Quest 2 so everyone can play along with Among Us VR.
However keep in mind that if you use it for this purpose, ethernet is going to be your best bet. And to get ethernet on this, it takes a USB C hub WITH ethernet and WITH 20+ watt pass through charging.
This will smooth out all your streaming and casting, but it does create something of a mess behind the TV.
The processors are different. 4K runs 4x ARM Cortex-A55 @ 1.91 GHz and HD runs
4x ARM Cortex-A35 @ 1.2 GHz. 4K is faster, but that's not the whole picture. The HD's processor is newer and has AV1 codec support, which is more efficient than H265.
You mean the 1x it was bundled with a Funco and at one seller...which is OOS everywhere? I mean, sir... if you're comparing good prices with one off's, I'll give you that one. At least per Camel, it hasn't been below $40 and has been $50 on Amazon since before Christmas.
Does this device allow you to use Guest mode (stream to TV from device without WiFi)? I know the Android TV boxes with Chromecast do not but I'm not sure if the more modern Chromecast devices still allow this or not.
This thing is slow or the wifi receiving sucks compared to my FireTV 4k. Also Prime Video is so slow on this. Netflix and HULU is comaparable to the FireTv 4k.
Does chrome cast need wifi? I need something to stream YouTube videos from my iPad to a hotel tv. Would prefer a solution that does not require the device connected to the tv be connected to the hotel WiFi as well. Basically a simple setup for my kid on trips so he can watch his shows on hotel tvs

This is the new version that includes a remote and has a user interface on your TV screen. (Not just casting from your phone.) Like a Roku but the screens are laid out differently. I have both (been a Roku user for close to 10 years) and now prefer the CC interface. I do like the Roku remote better though.
nice, so does it control tv power and volume like the Roku? I do like the screenshots of the interface and it looks like it shows multiple streaming services in a single menu which is nice.
Does the remote integrate with TV, so it is a single remote to operate the whole thing. That's what I love about Amazon TV stick; it really turned my 13 years old Sony TV into a usable TV again.
Yes it controls TV power, volume, mute and input switching. Works with my old Sony HDTV (from 2006 I think. It's so old I forgot exactly when I bought it. )

How is the Chromecast/ google TV for apps like YouTubeTv kodi netflix?
I have a regular chromecast but hate it for the kids room b/c I have to use my phone to cast and as a remote.
Can I just load apps like YouTubeTv Netflix etc and let the kids run off of it?
Thanks
I've had mine since launch, and it's been great. I use it on my main TV and the constant apps are Netflix, Plex, Crunchyroll, YouTube, and Pluto TV. For a little bit there was HBO Max. All the apps work fine however Pluto TV does glitch from time to time which requires closing the app and restarting.
The remote is convenient albeit a little small. My only complaint about it is the lack of storage space on the device. It only comes with 8gb and more than half is dedicated to the OS so it really only leaves you with about 3gb of storage space for apps. It fills up quickly because of updates but if you're only using one or two apps the majority of the time it should be fine. You can get around this with a USB C hub and thumb drive if you really need more space but it's not really necessary.
It supports almost all major audio codecs, upscales video, CEC support, and is pretty user friendly. You can also set up different profiles for yourself and the kids as well.

Here is what the screens look like

I have 2 Onn myself and they work great.
The point is the Onn device is ***extremely YMMV*** in finding one for purchase as it is out of stock everywhere (except for very rural areas).
The new Onn hasn't release yet.
I also have the CC Ultra (free from Stadia purchase and refund).
It's Ethernet which the CCwGTV is not, unless you get extra devices for it.
This Onn device really surpassed my expectations!
I hear you on it being sold out...must be a good reason for it!
