Microcenter also has DDR4 laptop ram on sale that works well with this pc. $500 for laptop $80 for a 32GB kit and now the laptop is pretty banging!
Screen quality is impressive, and will be good for my sister's photo editing needs. Should last her quite a while I hope !
PROTIP: If you do Windows Update -> Optional, some of the "HP" updates are A BIOS FLASH! THIS WILL RESET YOUR BITLOCKER KEY AND YOU CAN'T BOOT UNTIL YOU GET THE RECOVERY CODES FROM YOUR MICROSOFT ACCOUNT ! I totally got stuck in a bitlocker reboot cycle, so I ended up disabling it. My recommendation is to disable BitLocker drive encryption before you update the BIOS on this bad boy.

The Crucial P3 is a half-way decent and efficient drive you can pick up there for a fair price of $58.
Things to do with the old one:
Send it to me
Use it in another PC
Sell it on ebay/craigslist/etc.
Use it in an enclosure for backups
Save it for a rainy day
Donate to charity
Dissect for fun
Incidentally, these things seem to be shipping with an WD SN810, like most OEM drives, these are actually pretty good. From what I can tell, it is an SN850 detuned for lower power.
I love supporting MC, too!
its not a shot a dell, they are fine. but ive worked in IT for 17 years, ive seen thousands of computers come and go. in my time ive seen dell slip in quality over recent years
Please suggest a lenovo laptop with a good screen and affordable price

Throw another 8gb 3200mhz ram stick (Crucial stick on Amazon is $22) and upgrade the NVMe to 1 TB and this thing is super powerful. It boots up in about 9 seconds once I nuked all the bloatware and reinstalled Windows 11 clean along with some optimizations. I tried installing windows 10 on this and it surprisingly came with a verified windows 10 license, but I couldn't get the Realtek Audio drivers to work nor the Touchpad. The screen is actually quite good and the refresh rate was the main selling point for me. It's hard to beat this price for what you get and what you could upgrade it to. There's a lot of mediocre laptops in the same price range with no dedicated GPU and same ram with only a 60hz screen.
Thanks!

I purchased a 17.3 HP laptop. Performance wise it's fine but the casing is falling apart.Build quality is subpar.
I expect so much more from Hewlett-Packard
I don't play games, but I do run Adobe suite.

I purchased this laptop and got it today.
Lets just say I am stuck in bitlocker reboot cycle, what should I do get out of it?
Also, wondering, how to get Recovery code from Microsoft?
Thank you.

BTW, HP has tons of bloatware pre-installed on the laptop. It's better to install a clean version of Windows

I did a cpu compare to similar cpus and 12th gen by like ALOT over 11th gen etc
Dell does have an inspiron 15 with a ryzen 7 5825U in it for 500 rn.
passmark beats this cpu over all. 8c16T, its 15w cpu. about 18% lower single thread score. with 16gb of ram tho..
its close

For the everyday user the dell is more appealing i think. lighter, sleeker bezels, prolly better batt life. already comes with 16gb of ram which is nbd but still. if you dont need the gpu its kinda a toss up.
my wife would def pick lighter and sleeker over ips all day and prolly never notice and performance difference
Looks like the victus is 1.5lbs heaver. 5.06 as compared to 3.71
victus has an ips edgelit diplay 144hz vs WVA 120hz
obvi the gpu is of some difference
