I paid only one month of service, and let it sit in the box. It's automatically unlocked 180 days later.

Am I the only one terrified of going into a metro store. Have read so many horror stories of mangers making up their own rules (requiring insurance, buying cases, requiring 3 months of service)

Are you sure the phone got activated? If not, your 6 months timer hasn't started...
Yeah when I called them they activated it properly and my son used it for a month before service ran out.

I was told to pay tax on the 499 full price.
I paid first month bill, activation fee, and tax based on these two items. That's it. Around $135-140 for two iPhones.

i believe it depends on what your state determines. By law in my state, retailers can charge tax on full price with a rebate.

FYI, you do not have to pay for insurance and each store has the ability to offer free activation.

Will Boost work for this promo? It uses the T-Mobile and ATT networks. If it works there's a promo for new customers 50% off the first month (so $12.50) with free SIM and shipping.
Yes, I just did it today! I had to call Boost and get a transfer PIN (it is NOT your Boost PIN) and even though I had it, there was an "exception" transferring from Cingular (Boost number shows up as Cingular wireless) so they had to call Metro HQ which had to reach out to Boost which took about an hour for Boost to let them transfer the number.

I went into a corporate store and they didn't upsell me anything. $20 activation fee, $60 first month's service and $1.88 in tax and was out the door. Used the $9.99 iPhone XR that was highlighted on SD this past week. Lost the three months of Boost but got an IPhone XR and iPhone 11 for $182.

This is what I was planning on doing. Using the boost deal to get the 11 from this metro deal.

So the boost deal is under the ATT umbrella ?

If I port in a number, can I port it back out after 6 months. I have a Google voice number but I don't want to lose it. Or should I buy a number on eBay

I paid about $350 for two of them last year.

Was hoping they would do the same deal for the 12 this year.

Make sure you give yourself enough time. Every Boost -> Metro number transfer I did required a call to Boost to 'release' the number, after the transfer was initiated from the Metro side.

Always be careful when going to Metro store. It sounds like free but it is not! I have bought two phones in last 6 months and paid over $220 each time. First time Metro store charged me taxes ~$40 of the total phone cost and $10 for insurance in addition to $49 for iPhone 11, $60 for plan and $20 activation fee. You will get $49 gift card after using the phone for 3 months.

Second time I paid $49 for nano liquid glass protector, $39 for phone charger, $10 for phone insurance, $49 for iPhone 11, $60 for plan and $20 activation fee. They clearly said that they will not give me iPhone11 in this offer unless I buy $49 for nano liquid glass protector, $39 for phone charger. So expect over $200 unless you have an honest (rare!) Metro store in your area.

Yea, it sucks but usually you have to play this game with these prepaid companies such as metro and boost. Especially when it involves an iPhone deal.

When I did the iPhone 11 deal last year I had a nice rep. They said they had to add the insurance plan but I could cancel it after the first month. Small price ($12 I think) to pay to get in on the deal.

But $50 for a protector and $40 for a charger is crazy. I would not go with that store.

Thanks OP.

Was able to get 2x iphones for $133 at a corporate ($90 plan+ $40 activation + $3 tax). Took about 20mins, the rep is nice and quick.

Sorry to ask, but why did you buy the charging cables and glass protectors?
Is by your choice or does the sales rep at Rooesevelt Ave force to buy them?
I will visit there tomorrow, but want to be prepared.

When does this deal expire?
What would be the easiest service to port in?
