I paid only one month of service, and let it sit in the box. It's automatically unlocked 180 days later.

Am I the only one terrified of going into a metro store. Have read so many horror stories of mangers making up their own rules (requiring insurance, buying cases, requiring 3 months of service)

You can downgrade to a cheaper plan after the first month.

not worth it. the store will charge you:
1. Tax on FULL price of the phone, which is a number they make up. I asked before about one that show $250 on their website, but CS said the price of phone is $500. So this $500 iphone, they are probably going to say $1000, and "tax" based on $1000.
2. Activatino fee $20 ~ $45.
3. Insurance
4. Case
5. 3 months of service at $60 each month.

I m also terrified to go metro store considering stores around me are authorized stores only. That said, even with the bullshit fees upto $60,it's a good deal with $20 activation fee.

Good luck to those taking the trip to stores. I went to a metro corporate last year and they tried to fleece me. Tax on full msrp. Say I have to pay for the insurance. Buy the phone cases. They like vultures. This was in Queens NYC. Never again for me.

There's a reason why Metro is a kept separate from T-mobile(although some T-mobile sales reps are sleazy as well).

Have you guys noticed that Metro store locations are almost ALWAYS in the hood?

This is what I was planning on doing. Using the boost deal to get the 11 from this metro deal.

So the boost deal is under the ATT umbrella ?

It's dead now but here is the thread.

Started with an xr + 3 months of service for $99

Someone later found a glitch that you could get the xr + 1 month of service for $50. And after that others found it for as low as $20

Thanks OP.

Was able to get 2x iphones for $133 at a corporate ($90 plan+ $40 activation + $3 tax). Took about 20mins, the rep is nice and quick.
How did you get $90? Is there a deal that's $90 plan for 2 lines? So I don't have to do 2 X $60?

Yes, second line is $30 when you open both lines together.

I thought corp were supposed to be better vs authorized retailer but about the same?!

I only have one experience with corp store a while back and it was ok overall, nothing close to what you described...
corp learns only bad things from authorized retailers, That why it's called Metro by T-Mobile LMAO.

I'm interested in using this phone to trade in for a Pixel 6a. Can I trade the phone in while locked to Metro? or do I need to wait the 180 days?

Do you mean you took the sim card out of the phone and never put it back? Could you clarify? Thx
Sorry that sentence wasn't complete. I meant that I didn't insert the SIM card in the store since I wanted to keep the phone wrapped so my son could unwrap it (he loves pull tabs on apple products). The guy at the store put the phone in the system and activated my service but used the esim IMEI. Since metro requires the IMEI of your phone to match what they have on record for your line (they don't let you switch phones by just swapping SIM cards like most providers) the phone didn't work when I put the SIM card in at home (since the IMEI of the physical sim slot wasn't registered to my line). I called and the hotline and they fixed it. After the first month was up I didn't take the SIM card out. I just didn't pay for the second month, which suspends the account and cuts off service.I bought the phone mainly to set up a Wi-Fi only Apple Watch for my son (he got for free from his grandpa and needed the latest iOS which didn't run on any of my older spares). He's not getting an active phone for a while so I'm fine with waiting 180 days for the unlock. Eventually the plan is for him to use this phone on a different service, probably next school year.
