I paid only one month of service, and let it sit in the box. It's automatically unlocked 180 days later.

Am I the only one terrified of going into a metro store. Have read so many horror stories of mangers making up their own rules (requiring insurance, buying cases, requiring 3 months of service)

These phones are already barely stocked at Metro (I was told they only get 1-2 a shipment) and I live in a very densely populated suburb so I highly doubt I'll find one in stock at this price.

I was hoping they'd switch over to iPhone 12, but they just keep lowering iPhone 11 prices.
Are you gonna wait?

Is tax off the $499 total or only taxes on the $60 plan?
I went to corporate store had no issues and paid about $90 ish out the door. Paid taxes and the $60 month plan. Also used a Google voice phone number. The workers helped me figure out how to port it. You pay $3 from the Google voice website to unlock the number. The number is the account number which they need and the voicemail pin is whatever your current voicemail pin is. And if you don't have one. Then you have to make one. Currently looking into how to get it unlocked.

When does this deal expire?
What would be the easiest service to port in?
Google voice. Free to get a number and $3 to unlock the number to port out to metro.

not worth it. the store will charge you:
1. Tax on FULL price of the phone, which is a number they make up. I asked before about one that show $250 on their website, but CS said the price of phone is $500. So this $500 iphone, they are probably going to say $1000, and "tax" based on $1000.
2. Activatino fee $20 ~ $45.
3. Insurance
4. Case
5. 3 months of service at $60 each month.
I paid $90ish out the door with a brand new iPhone.

I used to work for Metropcs, They do this because the Company wants to meet a certain quota to upsale all these add-ons. Usually insurance not sure about the rest though.
Can you give us more information on the unlocking for the phones? Can we get it unlocked by only paying 1 month of service and waiting 5 more months or does it have to be 6 months of continuing paid service?

Good luck to those taking the trip to stores. I went to a metro corporate last year and they tried to fleece me. Tax on full msrp. Say I have to pay for the insurance. Buy the phone cases. They like vultures. This was in Queens NYC. Never again for me.
wow, even at CORPORATE store?
I thought that kind of nasty behavior is only at authorized stores.

it definately pays to call them before to get a sense of what theyre about, if its a store that picks up the phone..

there was one in a mall near me they basically gave me a price but was unable to give me a breakdown of what that number consisted of, i just left

Thanks I'll give it a try. Had a bit of trouble today getting my wife's Google Voice account setup but we finally got it to work after trying 3 different numbers.
