I paid only one month of service, and let it sit in the box. It's automatically unlocked 180 days later.

Am I the only one terrified of going into a metro store. Have read so many horror stories of mangers making up their own rules (requiring insurance, buying cases, requiring 3 months of service)

When the 180th day comes, do I have to be in their network to unlock? This phone will be overseas with me by then, will the unlocking still work?

Unlocking should work as long as you can get on Wi-Fi. If not it will unlock when you return. You do not have to be on their network.

So last week I tried to do the iPhone 11 promo for $50. I had purchased a boost mobile number off ebay. The validated everything. Had the iPhone and sim card on the table. Then once they told me it was going to be about 180 out the door. I pulled the plug and walked out the door. I told them I would wait for a better deal. So now this deal pops up. I called one store this morning and they quotes me about $130 out the door, unfortunately, they were all out of stock. So hoping I can land this for the 130 mark.

I also looked around on swappa to see what these units still go for in mint/new condition and they are still in the upward $300 neighborhood. My daughters bday is in about 6 months. So I thought this would be a nice little upgrade for her.

The unlocking process happens through the Apple activation servers, so you shouldn't need to be on their network as long as you're on Wi-Fi or some other connection. But I believe they send a "trigger" message to unlock immedirately over their network when it happens. It should still happen over Wi-Fi, but can take a little longer sometimes. Just note that I think someone mentioned previously that theirs unlocked on day 184 or so and that's not uncommon, so don't get too stuck expecting it right on day 180.

I went to 3 different ones today: 1st one said there is an extra $40 "phone activation fee" plus I have to get insurance. 2nd one said I have to sign up for a $72 a month plan. 3rd one said there are a lot of taxes on iphones, it will be like $250.

I guess the second one would have been the best deal, but I was already too angry.

I went this morning and got two out the door for less than $140. Paid for the service, activation fees and very little tax. Person was very helpful and this was a corporate store.

I just went to a store and total out the door price was $125. The taxes were $45 in Oklahoma City. Guess they taxed on the full price of the phone.

This phone was automatically activated for me, which in my case was not the mistake awesome thing. I thought I would just buy this phone and put away until unlocked. Partner threw my sim away and the email says recurring payments. I can't log into website without the sim card to do verification code. As I thought this was prepaid and people had said unless you set up payments that there wouldn't be recurring payments. The email I got from them says otherwise. Kind of at a loss of what to do now.

I just got 2 brand new Iphone 11's for a total of $133 OTD. $60 for primary plan, $30 for my second plan and 2 $20 activation fees plus $3 dollars in tax. Is this correct? I signed up for an online account and took auto pay off. Do I have to cancel at the end of the month? I looked online and it says I don't have to cancel as it's month to month service. I used boost mobile to port out from the 2 $23 Iphone XR refurb deals. Anyone please advise. Thanks

You had to setup a 8 digit pin when they first ported you out at the store so you can log into your metro pcs account to turn auto pay off. User ID is your ported cell number and the password is the 8 digit pin you setup. Once logged in you can see auto pay is right on the screen for you to turn off.
