I paid only one month of service, and let it sit in the box. It's automatically unlocked 180 days later.

Am I the only one terrified of going into a metro store. Have read so many horror stories of mangers making up their own rules (requiring insurance, buying cases, requiring 3 months of service)

Maybe not everyone knows this trick. I certainly didn't. Are you basically saying we can get any new google voice number for $3 and use that as a porting number to get these deals? No headaches/fuss/issues?

You can find the Boost account number online, in Settings — My Profile. PIN is just the pin you set up yourself, which is in Settings — Security.
thanks, I just setup the pin online to switch over to googlefi s22ultra deal.

If I unlock my GV number today, is there a time period at which my number is re-locked if I don't port the number to another carrier? I clicked the unlock button and looked, it doesn't say what happens either way.
You can go into you GV settings and relock your number. Not sure if you would need to pay another $3 if you want to unlock again.

Yes, I was not charged sales tax at all. Only some sort of $0.08 regulatory activation recovery fee per phone.

Edited. Sorry I misread the question, I'm not sure what happens in this case and would like to know as well.

Thanks. But I still didn't find this statement on that page: "Customer service will only unlock a phone that has been in the MetroPCS network for 180 continuous days." Could you tell me where exactly it's located on that page?
When does the service requirement (180 consecutive days) start?
The service requirement begins from your phone's activation date. The first day your phone is active with Metro by T-Mobile counts as day 1. Please note that your phone's activation date is different from your account's activation date.

So it only defines the starting date, right? But it didn't say anything like this "Customer service will only unlock a phone that has been in the MetroPCS network for 180 continuous days."
