I have not used this planar, but I do own a Cutech spiral cut 8" jointer and am very satisfied with that unit after 3 years.
These units don't "look" fancy, but they certainly perform well.
At the time of my jointer purchase, Cutech had great customer service responses to my "new to the craft" inquiries...which I thought was very nice.
Many units look the same. I'd say Wahuda is probably the closest competitor.
